|

Hello,
I am trying to play multi-channel MIDI data through the ARIA VST (Garriton Personal Orchestra's player), but all of the MIDI goes to the VST on Channel 1, even though the data uses 4 different channels. Is there a way to get Cubase to leave the MIDI events on their respective channels instead of changing them all to channel 1? Better, is there a way to route multiple MIDI tracks (each using a different channel) to a single instance of a VST instrument?
* I started with about 20 MIDI tracks.
* Then I created 8 Instrument tracks (the maximum) for 8 ARIA VSTs. I couldn't find a way to route multiple, or even a single, MIDI track to the instrument tracks, so I decided to move the MIDI track events to the Instrument tracks.
* Since I had more than 8 MIDI tracks, I first merged multiple tracks together, assuring that each track within a merge used a different channel. Then I moved the resulting 8 merged MIDI track events to the 8 instrument tracks. I verified the presence of multiple MIDI channels using both the key editor's channel coloring, and examining the event list.
* I discovered that Cubase routes all MIDI data on the instrument track to Channel 1. This results in all channels playing the same instrument (that loaded onto channel 1 in ARIA)
Surely Cubase can send multiple MIDI channels to a VST instrument right? . . .
Thanks,
Joel |

Yes - but not Cubase LE 4 / 5, if that´s what you´re using. LE uses instrument tracks to trigger VSTIs, MIDI tracks are for external gear. More info on the limitations of instrument tracks can be found in the manual. _________________ Cubase 5.1.1 | XP Pro SP2 | Gigabyte EP45-DS3R | Intel E 8500 | EMU 1820 m | 4 GB Corsair Dual channel | PoCo Element | Cubase Essential 5 | FJS Amilo 7425 Pent.
