I got Cubase LE5 bundled with an Alesis io2 Express computer interface. I managed to get it installed (though it was a nuisance), and was working satisfactorily. However, soon after installing the program I received a disk error that made it impossible to back up my drive. I was concerned that the protection scheme for Cubase might be causing the problem, so I deleted the program to test my theory. I still have the disk error, so evidently Cubase wasn't the cause. I re-installed the Cubase program but now I can't get it to work. When I click on the Cubase desktop icon, the program begins to load, but then reboots my computer. The e-licenser control center shows that I have a valid soft e-license, and also shows a temporary license for Cubase that will expire 11/27/10. I believe this temporary license must be a result of my having reloaded the program. Please tell me how to get this thing running again under my valid permanent soft e-license.
I will also tell you this: Like another person who posted with a similar problem, the difficulties I have had trying to get this program running, due to your security mechanisms, has convinced me not to purchase any more Cubase software. I just can't see how it's worth all the hassle. Anyway, I'll appreciate your assistance in getting this current problem rectified. Thank you. |

Hello,

In most cases a driver problem. Please be sure that you have installed the latest drivers for your chipset, graphics card, sound card

Please login into your MySteinberg account and do an "reactivation". Then you will get a new activation code send by Email
What is the detailed procedure for a reactivation?
This is a general step-by-step guide:
You need a user account at the MySteinberg website, please log in with your account data
On the left side click at "Activation & Reactivation"
Click on the name of the product which you want to reactivate.
Click on "Reactivation"
Follow the instructions there, enter you new SeL number.
For Sequel also enter the activation code from the card "Essential Product License Information" or the last used activation code you can find in MySteinberg.
Now click on "Request new Activation Code"
Repeat the procedure for each additional product
In "Show registered products" -> "Activation codes received online" those requested activation codes are listed. You will also receive an email with an activation code for each reactivation you have started. Use the eLicenser Control Center and use the “Enter Activation Code” button to download the product license onto your SeL.
More details can be found here in this knowledge base article https://www.steinberg.net/en/support/knowledgebase_new/show_details/kb_show/soft-elicenser-sel-faq
