Has anyone had success using system link with the MR? I have all this processing power between 2 systems and unable to use it. _________________ Macbook 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4GB

I have been running Cubase 5.5 with MR816CSX - Vista 64 system with Cubase 5.1 with Tascam FW-1804 - Vista 64 system with VST system link . Works great , have had it up and going for 8 months , no hick - ups . But do keep in mind that you can not use your spdif in and out for the link . Use your ADAT cables and only adat 1 and 2 for your VST system link channels and set your MR816 to the 8 channels of adat selection in the MR816's setup panel . Hope that helps . Remember ADAT only so if your other interface has spdif but no ADAT your out of luck as far as I know . Cheers . _________________ 2 Q9550 2.83Ghz , 8 Gb DDR 800 , 2 -76Gb Raptors , Vista 64 , Cubase 5.5 64 bit , Steinberg MRX816CSX / Yamaha Motif Rack XS with mLAN16e2 & Yamaha N12 in a daisy chain with Tascam FW1804 ADAT , Yamaha DTXTREME 3 Special & Battery 3 / Superior Drummer 2 , Novation 61SL Mk 2 & Novation Nocturn with Automap Pro 3.5 , Line 6 Pod X3 Pro / Mesa Boogie Recording Preamp with TC Electronic G Major / FCB1010 , Ibanez S5470 with GK3 / Axon AX 100 Mk2 / JSX 120w / G System LE , Korg padKONTROL , BCF2000 . |

Also remember to turn the volume on your digital out on the Mr all the way up... to Max.

So, you have a completed loop for your SysLink setup? In other words, in your Cubase 5.5 VST System Link Dialogue Cubase 5.1 shows up and the same on your other machine? As for your ADAT channels, you should only be using one to send and receive: ADAT 1 Out to your other machine/interface, and from there back to ADAT 1 IN on your primary. Anyway, the last time I looked even the self test failed on these units, leaving only one way communication, which is not how System Link was designed to work. When working properly, you can put both units Online and control each from the other's transport fluidly. If you can't do that, then it isn't working properly and only reading one way. Unless Steinberg has fixed these units, they will receive but not send Syslink info. Verify this for yourself with the self test. You may be controlling the transport with your Tascam, but I doubt you're able to control your tascam from your other machine. If you can, you have the one unit I know of that will do this. _________________ Originally registered Nov. 2002

It works perfectly for me too. Adat from csx to motu 828 mk3. Both transports communicate. I have a quad g5 and a MacBook pro. Cubase4.5.2 and cubase AI is on the laptop. I read all of your posts concerning vst system link and contacted Steinberg before bothering with vst system link. I'm using one monster adat cable. I'm sending audio by analog connections since I prefer it. Basically, I'm only using link to sync both machines. MIDI is also done using MIDI interfaces. Link is only for transport sync in my setup.
Contact support if you can't get it to work. Again, how I use it it works perfectly. Maybe you have Mr set to external fx. Maybe if you have external fx mode it wont... haven't tried good luck.
Hth.

After being baffled for some time , and the link is on Adat 1 in/out , I've had it up and running for almost a year now . It's great because I run my VST instruments from my slave DAW and then Adat them on Adat channels 3 to 8 to my MRX816csx and just run a couple VST's at a time so I can run my Tascam FW -1804 at 2-3ms on the output . Then I run my Motif Rack XS for my more generic sounds on my master DAW ( not saying the Motif Rack is generic its just you can have a lot more control over VST's with my Novation gear ) . All four of my interfaces sync perfectly and I swear my Tascam seems to latch better now that the sample rate is being sent Adat . _________________ 2 Q9550 2.83Ghz , 8 Gb DDR 800 , 2 -76Gb Raptors , Vista 64 , Cubase 5.5 64 bit , Steinberg MRX816CSX / Yamaha Motif Rack XS with mLAN16e2 & Yamaha N12 in a daisy chain with Tascam FW1804 ADAT , Yamaha DTXTREME 3 Special & Battery 3 / Superior Drummer 2 , Novation 61SL Mk 2 & Novation Nocturn with Automap Pro 3.5 , Line 6 Pod X3 Pro / Mesa Boogie Recording Preamp with TC Electronic G Major / FCB1010 , Ibanez S5470 with GK3 / Axon AX 100 Mk2 / JSX 120w / G System LE , Korg padKONTROL , BCF2000 . |
