|
|
Hi,
Sorry if the answer to this is posted elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it.
Problem is that I can't get my midi controller working at all. It was working then all of a sudden just stopped. I start an instrument track like normal and choose a VSTi, select "all midi inputs" and there is no sound. The midi indicator isn't even doing anything. I have also tried selecting the "Akai MPK49" from the input list, but still no sound.
I have also tried the following from gearslutz (with no joy):
"You need to make sure your midi interface is recognised - go to devices>device setup and look at the top of the tree where it says midi and expands out to midi port setup. Your midi keyboard should be listed there. If not, check the windows device mangler and make sure the drivers are installed properly and that the midi device is turned on before you start Cubase.
You also need to insert the vst into the project (go to devices>vst instruments or press F11). You need to create a midi track and make sure the correct input is selected in the channel strip on the left. You also need to make sure the correct vst is selected in the midi output. You can also create an instrument track which is the new way of doing it which combines the midi and audio tracks for the vst.
To check the audio, go to devices>device setup and look at the bottom of the tree where it says VST Audio System. Your audio device / soundcard should be listed under here and in the right hand panel you want to select the ASIO driver associated with your soundcard. Again, if not, check the windows device mangler and make sure the drivers are installed properly for the soundcard.
You need to the make sure that Cubase is outputting the stereo mixer output to your soundcard. Go to Devices>VST Connections or F4 and under the Outputs* tab create BUS 1 and then under device port select the L and R channels of your soundcard."
I am using Cubase 5, HP G62 laptop, edirol UA-25 interface and an Akai MPK49 midi controller.
This is my first post here so sorry if I have done something wrong!
Cheers. |

is this happening only inside cubase? have you verified that windows see the controller and it's functional? do you have a standalone synth
or another program to see if it works at all? _________________ Qbase 4.5.2, 3GHz Athlon II X2 250, 4Gb DDR2, M-audio 2496, Saffire LE Win XP Pro SP3 |

The controller is not working in Reason either.
How do I verify that windows sees the controller? I looked for drivers for it, but apparently there aren't any and the computer just recognizes it as a USB device. I know it is functional because it works fine in my friends mac with logic.
I don't have another standalone synth at the moment, but I had one of the Akai LPK25's and that didn't work in cubase either. |

Hi, just read in an SOS article:
"The MPK49 is supplied with a printed 'quickstart' manual, a PDF version of the same, and a more extensive PDF reference manual. The PDFs arrive on an installation CD, along with (some of) the bundled software (see the 'Bundled Software' box). The MPK49 is a genuine 'plug and play' device; under Windows XP or Vista and Mac OS X, no drivers need to be installed".
I am using Windows 7, so I guess I would need the drivers for it. However, I can't seem to find the drivers anywhere. On the Akai website, this all it offers for the controller:

I have an Akai LPK25, no drivers required, the Akai editor was the only software that came with it.
Windows (i'm on Win XP here) just wouldn't recognise it, didn't even show up on the drop down list
of midi inputs in Cubase - though you said your MPK49 is visible as an option at the midi track inspector-
until i somehow discovered that it was clashing with my logitech webcam drivers installation. I had to choose
between the cam and the LPK, so i unistalled the logitech drivers and it works smoothly since then. I don't know
if the MPK 49 comes with any set of dedicated drivers, actually, plug'n' play usually means no drivers needed. _________________ Qbase 4.5.2, 3GHz Athlon II X2 250, 4Gb DDR2, M-audio 2496, Saffire LE Win XP Pro SP3 |
