Hi there!
I finally decided to upgrade to an i7cpu - I've had a fresh 500Gb Samsung F3 Spinpoint HD, Windows7 64bit OEM & an Artic Cooling Rev2 fan sitting around for a while as I was gonna buy a bit each month.
My original plan was to get a GA-X58-UDR3 mobo with 6Gb (3x2) Corsair XMS3 1333 CLA 9-9-9-9-24 @1.65v and an i7 950 as I'd carefully ensured everything was compatible.
On Sunday night (after returning from the pub) I noticed there was a weekend-offer price drop on the i7 950 and that if if downgraded slightly to the GA-X58-USB3 (as I don't use any Firewire stuff) I could just about squeeze it onto the plastic now that I've got all the Christmas presents - which, of course, I did!
Now I'm worried that the memory may not work properly on the board. I'd seen many reports of it working fine on the UD3R, even reports of 1600 working on it (which it doesn't officially support). But the Gigabyte site says the GA-X58-USB3 only supports 1333 @ 1.5v rather than 1.65v, but then it also says that about the UD3R.
I guess I'll find out when it turns tomorrow - just looking for a bit of reassurance from anyone with a similar set-up or anyone with a bit of tech-savvy that knows it'll be okay, or at least how to make ok
Thanks in advance! Either way I'll post the results, but I may be gone for some time _________________ Cubase 5.5 | Vista 32 | E6750 @ 3.3Ghz | GA-P35C-DS3R | 4Gb RAM | Antec 183 | 500Gb OS + 2x750Gb | Emu 0404 | Saffire 6 USB | NT1-A | Nocturn | MPK49 | Rubicon R5as | AT MS50s

Thanks Oscat, you're right. I'm pretty sure it will be okay (still hasn't turned up yet).
It was impossible to find any horror stories after Googling them both for a couple of hours. _________________ Cubase 5.5 | Vista 32 | E6750 @ 3.3Ghz | GA-P35C-DS3R | 4Gb RAM | Antec 183 | 500Gb OS + 2x750Gb | Emu 0404 | Saffire 6 USB | NT1-A | Nocturn | MPK49 | Rubicon R5as | AT MS50s

Well, the parts turned up at work and it clearly says 1.5v on the RAM so I think I'm ok. Must've been a mis-print on the order! _________________ Cubase 5.5 | Vista 32 | E6750 @ 3.3Ghz | GA-P35C-DS3R | 4Gb RAM | Antec 183 | 500Gb OS + 2x750Gb | Emu 0404 | Saffire 6 USB | NT1-A | Nocturn | MPK49 | Rubicon R5as | AT MS50s
