I am really looking for any thoughts, comments and observations on this tool.
Right now I don't own it, but am seriously considering a purchase.
All I have at this time are the 2 main ones: Trilogy (original version) and the Dan Dean Basses from Giga.
How good is VB?
How stable?
How realistic?
How large?
Any and all input gratefully recieved. _________________ www.opusproductions.com

Hi Neil
I have Trilogy but not the Dan Dean Basses from Giga. The Trilogy sounds are fantastic, cover all three bass types (of course!) but no riffs, just a midi bass player.
VB is almost the opposite! ONLY plays riffs (or maybe I should say patterns) - altough many of the less advanced riffs are just playing single notes and only electric bass guitar is offered.
How good is VB? Depends what you want but it IS good - just remember ONLY riffs and ONLY electric bass
How stable? has not crashed yet and I've used it lots
How realistic? I would say very realistic in both bass sound and usefullness of the riffs
How large? 571 Mb
Hope that helps!

You can use VB to play single notes, if you press the C1 key on the keyboard, which activates "single note mode".
The only problem I can see with VB after playing with it is the limited octave range of the bass. It seems a bit daft really to limit the pitch range to within what a bass can really do, and I believe Steinberg should fix this.
I'm new to VB, and I got a working rhythm section (along with Groove Agent) in about one hour, which was pretty impressive in my opinion, and it fulfils my need of providing a rhythm track for knocking up ideas. _________________ -------
