[Update] HALion Player 3.2.0.1305 Retail & OEM available

Dear HALion Player friends,

A new version of HALion Player is now available. It is version 3.2.0.1305 for MAC and PC. There are two updaters available:

-> Update for the HALion Player retail version (Steinberg´s own HALion Player)
-> Update for the HALion Player OEM versions (Scarbee Vintage Keyboard Collection & Project Sam True Strike 1)

Installation notes

The update needs to be applied on an already installed HALion Player! Please download and install the recent Syncrosoft LCC as well after installing the HALion Player update.

This version crashes Logic every time I load it (Scarbee Vintage Keyboard Collection). The previous version was not perfect but at least I could use it most of the time.

The crash is reproducible in an empty program, just by instantiating VKC. Crashlog below:

After a manual removal of all the Halion Player elements, reinstall from CD and then the latest installer it works ok again.

Sorry for the alarm, but the Mac updates never seem to work straight away.

Scrap that - it's still happening.

First of all Scarbee VKC would not load instruments correctly when it was recalled as part of a Logic song (no programs loaded at all). Then I re-located the content files using the standalone player and immediately afterwards, Logic started crashing, either when Logic loaded songs containing VKC, or when instantiating VKC in a new Logic song.

I've tried relocating content oin the standalone Player, then loading it in Logic, nothing works. I've had about 10 of these crashes today alone. Latest crashlog is pasted below - this one ocurred when instantitating VKC.

I have mixes I need to complete and deliver, and this has cost me most of today just trying to get VKC to load without crashing. Please, I'd be extremely grateful for some help. I guess I'm going to have to trash the whole install and try another install from CD, latest update etc.

If you get in a bind and need that rhodes tracked, I'll be happy to record it for ya. You could send me the midi and tell me the rhodes and vfx patch you used. I'll track it and ftp it to you. That's extremely kind. If I can't get this sorted out today, I may take you up on your offer - thank you.

Christian - if there was any chance of some help with this, I'd be extrmely grateful. I'll do more testing today, but the issue seems to be related to the content. If the VKC player has no content specified, it loads fine. As soon as I specify the content, song loads and player instantiations cause a crash pretty much every time. Is there any other information I can provide you to lep you diagnose the problem? I'm going to try another clean sweep and reinstall, and perhpas try trashing preferences to see if it is those that are causing the problems.

From what I can make out, the problem seems to be related to the preference files.

I reinstalled from scratch again first thing, having removed all trace of the Halion Player from the system, and everything was fine again. Then thisafternoon it crashed again, and after that crashed every time I loaded the Logic song. So, instead of reinstalling, this time I just trashed the Scarbee Halion Player preferences, and everything was fine again.

I can work with this for now, just trashing the prefs when things go wrong, but it looks like something is corrupting the preferences, and that this is causing the crash problems.

Linwood - thanks for the offer of help. I've managed to get a bounce of the VKC parts down, which I can fall back on if things go awry again, so hopefully I should be ok.
