Phil Pendlebury
well i hope you do visit more often
i too spend a lot of times using export
it is a real drag
soon ill be getting cubase 4 studio and
it would be nice if you could mod the
code to work with cubase 4 studio.
working methods are different for different
producers some take the long way others take
the short way
most of us know that your tool is a well needed
function but there will always be the few
who will think other wise.
such is life

Thanks a million for this Phil.
I recently spent a week bouncing a months worth of sessions tracks for a client that needed the bounces for import into Tools.
Had I had something like this script then it would haved saved me some time & the client some money.
I have since learned that there have been a couple of these scripts made & floating around for a while.
Anyway I'm about to upgrade to Cubase 4 & your tool will definitely come in handy.
Cheers for your effort, it's people like yourself that help make & keep this a community worth visiting. |

| Life jacket - I ain't wearing no stinking like jacket. Phil, honestly, there's zero malice on this end, so I'm not sure why anyone is getting up tight. Honestly, it's all great - bounce audio, automated export tool - it's all a wonderful thing. |

Does anyone know if this works in Cubase SX/SL 3?
I'm away from my DAW otherwise I would have tried it. _________________ www.myspace.com/arcanamusic

| Phil Pendlebury wrote: | Cubase 4 Multi Export of Individual Tracks by Phil Pendlebury. V2.12c
What it does:
Enable you to export all your tracks to seperate audio files, whilst having dinner, coffee, fags etc.
Please note this is NOT the same script that was written by someone else in 2005 for SX. It is completely new code with proper dialogs etc.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Setting up Cubase:
Go to key commands and make the following new key commands:
File - Export Audio Mixdown "k"
Edit - Select All On Tracks "y"
Check the following (defualts) already exists if you are not sure:
Transport - Locators to Selection "p"
Edit - Select All "CTRL+A"
Navigate - Down "DOWN"
Setting up the Export dialog:
Open the Export Audio Dialog by pressing your new key command "k"
Set everything how you like it.
Close the Export Audio Dialog.
I recommend you make a new folder outside your project folder to avoid overwriting any files.
I also recommend you disable Import into Audio / Pool
IMPORTANT:
Make sure "Close dialog after export" is SELECTED
Set your path but not your file name (this is done by the script)
FINAL STEPS:
Count the number of tracks (from the top) that you need to export
Tracks will be exported and named in order so move them to where you want them.
Folder tracks will also be exported so include them in your count. If you don't want to export folder tracks, move the tracks out of the folder.
If you have any effects that you do not want to export turn them off now.
SELECT THE 1st TRACK and make sure it is NOT soloed!
RUN THE EXE FILE:
You will be reminded that all tracks must be NOT in solo and the 1st track you want to export must be selected.
You will then see a diaolog:
Number of tracks to Export: The number of tracks you want to export starting at the top.
Default File Name: This will have "_1, _2, _3" added to it for each track that is exported.
Set Locators To:
All Project - Sets L&R locators to length of the whole project and export every track at full length.
Parts on Tracks - Sets L&R locators to width of all parts on each selected track as it exports them. (Potentially making smaller files).
Hit GO!
You will now see another dialog that reminds you to make sure C4 has focus throughout. Cubase will be given focus a second after you exit this dialog.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
Cubase must not lose focus throughout the export procedure! So no web browsing and so on while this is going on. You must not have the range tool selected before you start.
I know this is by no means perfect but it will certainly help a few people (including myself)
Cheers,
Phil.

Thank you so much!
I wrote the original version in 2005 and from what I've seen so far it seems to be much useable and less buggy than my version... thanks once again!

| This guy did this for free... and you gave him guff? Crazy! For anyone who's sat for an entire day bouncing tracks for a protools session- this is awesome. If you happen to stop in again, Phil, thanks. True kindness. |

Howdy Boys!
If y'all can stop throwin' cow pies at one another long enough, ya might wanna check out Tape-It from Silver Spike. It ain't no pancea either, but it works OK fer me when the need is great.
Just make it yer first Insert on every track ya wanna export and Eh Viola! Un-effected exports of multiple track in one go. Is it a pain sometimes? You betcha. But it does it all in one pass.
Don't say I never did nuthin' fer ya.

Phil,
thanks so much for this. Appearantly some people here don't seem to understand what a life saver this is if you have 40+ MIDI/VSTi tracks and need to convert them to audio. I've done this by hand many, many times and it takes a lot of time. I too wish that Steinberg will implement something this into Cubase 4.
Furthermore, I wish that Steinberg would implement AUX tracks like ProTools, so that I have better routing capabilities. I was surprised not to see this in C4.
Anyway, thanks for this script man!

I appreciate your effort thank you.
I used to use sx uanattended export tool and I really needed a script for C4.
However I can't get it to start.
I followed all directions but after I hit go and focus on project page it just sits there.
Yes I made the key commands change but nothing happens.
Since I use external instruments I do exports in real time.
Is this the problem otherwise I am befuddled.
Thanks again.
UPDATE...... It works after I selected Parts on Tracks rather than All Project
not sure I understand why but I like the way it adjusts start to file
could save even more time |

| You users of the products of the mark "STEINBERG", I am going to leave recorded here to my expression of an a lot consumer revolted. I bought the Cubase SX 2 and did not I bring up to date for the version 3 because did not have a factor "simple" : Export multiple tracks for files of individual audio at one time. It is a so necessary thing that to "Silverspike" It has a "small" plug-in called: "TapeIt", that work fairly with the function of render channels of virtual instruments, beyond render channels of audio too. Without it cite the excelent job of the user "Phil Pendlebury" that has contributed for brighten up this agony of the users that need this factor. As another user already placed here, "Since the Cubase VST" the personnels asks this factor. Now that we are in the version 4 of the Cubase, I thought that this factor already would have been implemented. But it was alone a dream. The nightmare continues. The stupidity of the Steinberg still predominates in this factor. I am going to prefer to use the Cakewalk Sonar 6. This factor already exists in the Sonar since the version 1. They placed this text with a lot sorrow, because I am an admirer of the products of the Steinberg. Sincerely, Levi Miranda. |

I'm guessing English is not LM's primary language. It looks like classic babel fish type translation (web translation tool).
Regardless of the reason, I don't think you should attack people for using poor English. It's easy to understand LM's post if you try and I think it's great LM is trying to participate in these forums despite the obvious language barrier. |

For me does not it import. If the Steinberg is coming to Brazil, at you own way, i think can also go to WWW.CUBASE.NET and express my opnion independent of the my language.
Im brazilian and no german or north american. But the Steinberg sell your products here. Sorry if my english is poor or affect to some. |

LM, Welcome, and don't fret about the lacking social skills of some of our users. They spend long days in darkened rooms and rarely interact with others.
Phil. This is excellent work. One of the things that makes Steinberg such a great group of products, in general, is the efforts of its user base in improving both the use and functionality of said products. Again, don't concern yourself with the responses of some of these mushrooms on this forum. I am going for your tool even as we speak (the export tool, that is.) Come again soon. _________________ Tony's Choons

Hi Phil,
your tool doesn't do anithing with the Cubase Studio 4.
I guess thats because it appears as "Cubase Studio 4" in the task list, not as "Cubase 4"
thanks |

Thank you very much ,Phil,i made a test with a small SX3 project and it works (the appropriate download ofcourse, not the one for Cubase 4).
There should be a sticky in the forum for SX users also i think.
...I really wonder why Steinberg hasn't included this feature in Cubase...

Greetings all:
Just a quickie. I have had a number of mails requesting this to work with C4 studio, SL etc.
I can do this for you but I will need the following info. Please set it out neatly:
Here are examples:
FOR C4 BASED APPS
NAME OF APP: Cubase 4
NAME OF APPLICATION MAIN WINDOW: Cubase 4
NAME OF EXPORT AUDIO DIALOG: Export Audio Mixdown
NAME OF BUTTON TO PRESS TO BEGIN EXPORT: Export
FOR SX BASED APPS
NAME OF APP: SX3
NAME OF APPLICATION MAIN WINDOW: Cubase SX
NAME OF EXPORT AUDIO DIALOG: Export Audio Mixdown
NAME OF BUTTON TO PRESS TO BEGIN EXPORT: Save
PROGRESS WINDOW NAME: Export Audio (will usually have audio file name attached not important)
Reply to this thread filling in the correct info for the program you wish to work with.
You MUST also have the ability to set key commands as described in the instructions.
I will get this done as soon as time permits and as soon as I have the info required.
All the best,
Phil.

OK I have done the Nuendo 3 file also. I am not sure that this will work because I am not 100% that the main window name is "Nuendo 3".
With SX3 for example the main window name is "Cubase SX" there is no mention of version number. So it seems logical that Nuendo's main window would be called simply "Nuendo".
I could be wrong about this and have made the macro to your specifications. You will soon know if it works or not because Nuendo will not get focus if the window name is incorrect. Therfore the script will not run after you have entered any options.
Let me know if it works. It is up one the download section of my web site.
I will eventually (time permitting) integrate all these into one script that will recognise which app is being used.
Please post back as soon as possible.
Cheers,
Phil. _________________ Phil Pendlebury - www.meap.biz - www.pendlebury.biz - www.digital96.com - www.riffsandrays.com
