Hypersonic 2 is great but remember - You get NO SUPPORT from Steinberg, which mean that it will not be updated if it doesn't work with a new O/S version. Luckily, it DOES work perfectly in Vista 64, so hopefully it will work in Windows 7.

HS2 got some great sounds. in my opinion it is the best "software sound module"
when I'm working on a song I basicly use Triton Extreme, Trinity-rack and HyperSonic 2 for sounds.
The sounds that HS 2 is bad at Triton is good at, and vise versa.( i.e. I prefer Triton's or Trinity's strings much over Hypersonics.)
I also really like the quick edit knobs HS2 has, they are very useful!

The bad thing is you can't use all patches in HS2 if you're using CUbase 4: http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=96592&highlight=

I tried it. Hypersonic is garbage, and a waste of money.

I disagree. Hypersonic 2 is actually quite good, especially since it takes up very little CPU and most patches do not take up that much RAM. It similar sounding to Sampletank but has more unusual patches.

Thanks Tones2,
Very cool about Vista64..Can't wait for HS2.I thought for sure that one was never gonna happen.Steinberg surprised me! Wink

By the way I love Hypersonic 2,a friend of mine owns it.I think it's amazingly quick and to me it sounds just like an old hardware rompler... And I like that type of sound,

m127,
I personally think cubase's embracer sounds good ,if you know what your doing!

Well that one is free. Like Hypersonic, not extremely bad, but I don't use any Cubase plugins anyway. I don't like the idea of using plugins that suddenly can become unsopported without notice (Directx anyone?)

I like the old rompler sounds too, and that is why I've got Korg's M1. Tons of very useable presets...

It is fine if we disagree on Hypersonic. I tried it and sounded dull and a bit boring impo. Too much money for what it does even now with the discount (and Wizoo out of the scene).

Sorry for being excessively blunt... I regret the fact that I used the word "garbage", that was an overstatement due to something that sounded a bit like a commercial at a first read Wink

question is.......would you buy cubase 4 if you knew there was never ever gonna be a cubase 5.

as much as i like hypersonic the way it was dumped is in excusable......and that is the reason i will never buy anymore steinberg plugins.

That's a good question. Personally, I would never buy a discontinued program. When I bought Hypersonic 2 is was still supported with no hint of discontinuance, but alas, it was a Steinberg product, so I should have known better.

Steinberg sent me a letter explaining they will still support HS2.Here's what they wrote : And yes, even though it is discontinued, Steinberg is still offering support for Hypersonic 2, including the latest Universal Binary update for those of you with Intel-based Macs.

Actually I don't care if there's anymore updates or it get's developed any more as long as they can support it if I have any issues then I'm fine. The sounds and stability is what I'm after.I still have plugin's from 5 years ago that are working fine and that's all that's important to me.

As another example of Steinberg style...

V-Stack

LOL

around 7 years without updating the GUI at least. I think it still uses one similar to Cubase VST 5. Rolling Eyes

I must add that the only reason I still use Cubase is because of System Link. Other than that, I would have move on years ago...

each to their own.

i personally buy software on the basis that it will be supported and updated regularly.

if that is the case why dont you just stick to cubase sx1 or vst5.......why have cubase 4??

you say they still support it.........try asking any question about it and see how long it takes to get an answer....if you get an answer Rolling Eyes

Kind of in a fix now. I was thinking to upgrade to Cubase 4 to cubase studio 4. But Hypersonic deals is so tempting. I have to chose one. Would anyone suggest which is worthy of an investment in the longrun? are the instruments in Cubase 4 as good as Hypersonic 2. Please advice me ASAP..
thanks for yout time..
New buyers please share your thoughts..

Thanks again..
