List your suggestions for future control surfaces from Yamaha for Cubase...
I really like the look of this CC121. Now if they would take this concept and expand it to something that could compete with a Mackie Control Universal (except Cubase-specific), then I would really be interested. Add 8 track faders and make the one that's there a master fader then release an expansion box with 8 more faders. There can be one set of EQ controls (selected track is controlled), but put things like the mute, solo, read, write, pan, and the "e" button above each fader. I really like the point-and-control AI knob, that is a keeper for sure. Maybe add some of the other things you'd find on the MCU like cut/copy/paste. _________________ Main DAW:

I would like to see more assignable buttons and/or encoders. The fact that the CC 121 has only four assignable buttons is a disappointment. That is the primary reason I will not be buying one.
I do not care at all for the EQ section since I seldom use Cubase's built in EQs. I wish that space was used for a bank of assignable buttons.
I like the AI knob.
One fader is fine. _________________ Win 7 32 | Cubase 5.5 | GA- EP35C-DS3R | Intel Q9450 | Zalman CNPS 9700 | Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 | Lynx AES16 | UAD-2 Quad | Poco Express | GeForce 9500GT 1024 Fanless | 3xSATA | LG DVD | Corsair HX620 | MOTU Micro Express |

I am in the market for a control surface but want/need more than just a single fader. Eight faders plus a master fader would be perfect. I would like to see it have the ability to control plug-ins/vsts which means having a bank programmable/configurable buttons/knobs.
Why not have it use mLAN instead of MIDI? I use lots of synths and have lots of MIDI data being transferred all over the place and i'm wary about having more MIDI devices in the chain. I would imagine that mLAN is faster than MIDI and is capable of transmitting more precise data...MIDI 0-127, mLAN 0-∞? That would allow more precise control of Cubase and keep the MIDI data stream free of additional 'noise'. |

Try a Griffon Powermate for about £30 , I used one to do exactly the same as the AI Knob... Place it over a fader or function in cubase and plugs, then twist the knob and it changes the value. |

How do you have your Griffin Powermate setup? Mine only allows certain actions, turning right, left, pushing down etc to be mapped to basic keyboard shortcuts in the powermate control panel.
I can't get mine to act like an AI knob which controls all of my VST 3 and many program functions when underneath the cursor.
All the best,

Hi Greg,
you have to download the latest driver for Powermate. In the control panel you have to select "Scroll Up" and "Scroll Down" as actions for turning left and turning right. Now you can move the mouse over any parameter in cubase 4 and change the values. And it isn´t limited to VST3 PlugIns, you can also edit parameters on other PlugIns (UAD-1 PlugIns for example).
All the best,

I would like to buy a 24 or 48 fader version with the rest of the controls set out in a fat channel section that gets selected by cubase's selected track or by pressing select above the fader. It would be good to have a control room section too. _________________ Daz.

The cool thing about the CC 121 is that in Cubase and Nuendo it can be used in conjunction with other fader boxes such as a Mackie Control or digital mixers. The user defined section can be used a lot with the control room with presets for switching monitors or controlling the cue mixes. I configured mine to use a footswitch to engage talkback, one of the butons to open the control room and another to switch between my 4 sets of monitors.
All the best,
