Just a quick note.

Anyone using Cubase 4.5+ must be using the latest version of MEAP.

6.51.347

Be sure to select Cubase 4.5 as your Audio Application Series

Hi all,

Just got back from 3 weeks in the far east. No internet access... Amazing how much stuff accumulates after 3 weeks away.

Anyway, back in action now and working on an update.

No news on MAC version I'm afraid.

Cheers,

Smile

This thing is becoming embarassing!

I gotta say, having to register on your site just to purchase may not be a good idea. Not sure why you require that.

I was going to purchase and have been waiting about 1/2 hour for the confirmation email for registration, and still haven't gotten it. In the interim after watching some more of the videos I decided not to purchase. Still haven't gotten the registration email so even if I still wanted to purchase I couldn't.

People shouldn't have to be inconvienced to give you money. Very Happy You should make it as easy as possible. My .02...

It's a very nice app though. Is there an option to import the exported files to the timeline?

6.51.379 UPDATE:

Fixed a rare error caused when adding leading zeros to filename
Changed filename check routine to allow all characters that are allowed by windows (previously, some other characters were not allowed by MEAP)
Corrected reading of track numbers when using track number offset (only occurs when using negative track numbers)
Improved speed slightly

Hi there,

Fair point and thanks for your interest...

If you don't register there is no way to link the purchase with your order. Also this enables the support system to work. It is the way the plugin works that handles payments and as far as I know there is no online store service that does not require some kind of registration. At least with the one I use, you only have to register once for the product and the same registration is valid on the support forum too. Plus there is no need for name and address and other details.

Having said that, I know the activation email thing can be flaky. I have tried many times to figure out why some people don't get activation email and can not get to the bottom of it. I don't write the forum and site software so I can't really do more. I usually find that if I manually send a reminder then people get it.

I have activated your account btw.

With respect to Phil's work, if the features were to be included in Cubase, I would expect something that works better than MEAP. Steinberg don't provide developers with the means to integrate code into Cubase, so Phil's app has to use a slightly less reliable mechanism. Simply adding the app to the CD would cause them more trouble than it is worth.

I use MEAP because it saves me alot of time, but there are many features which I would want added; but which would only be practical if they were fully integrated into Cubase's 'export' window.

If anyone want to urge Yamaha to do something, then I would like them to release an SDK for developers. Folk like Phil would really have something good to integrate with. And we might see other developers providing add-ins.
I doubt this will happen in the short term. I assume they are busy building interfaces to more Yamaha equipment. It may be interesting to see whether they develop their multitrack portable recorders, and the options they may add for passing audio tracks between devices. Who knows, perhaps they will add something called a 'multiple export audio'. If they are generous, they will acknowledge Phil as being the guy who had previously enabled us to do it in Cubase.

I love MEAP, and use it all the time... however, as mentioned, if Phil had access to the SDK, he could make MEAP so that it integrated with Cubase rather than a separate stand-alone program that has to use macros to function.

I cannot imagine Steinberg *ever* letting that happen however.

For now, MEAP is an absolute life-saver, and Phil has done an amazing job considering the tools he has available are all outside of the actual Cubase code. I am sure that someday Steinberg (C5?) will add a similar feature, and at that time, I will have to look at each solution at the feature level to decide if I will keep using MEAP or use the Steinberg integrated solution. All things being equal, I would probably opt for the integrated option.

The one thing that Phil brings to the party that Steinberg *never* will is that he listens to his customers, and adds features and fixes bugs VERY quickly. This is similar to the Reaper philosophy, and something that Steinberg will never be able to do.

Hi Phil I am not too sure if I can ask this question here Embarassed , but then I`m taking a chance( hit or miss Laughing)
(By the by the term `bounce` for me shall remain `bounce as in Cubase` and not any other DAW, coz it can get a bit too confusing, has always been to me)
Here`s the question..I have these 32 audio tracks with differnt start and end points depending on the project requirements. Now, if I`m going to use MEAP for export, will I need to bounce all the tracks( the way I`ve been doing so far using `bounce selection and then export selected tracks) or do I just go ahead straight without bouncing?

Thanks in advance

Hi guys,

Thanks again for kind words of support. I assure you it is well appreciated and always gives me a nice feeling that hard work is worth while.

Please please direct questions about exports to the MEAP forum.

And the reason I dropped in:

6.51.388 UPDATE:

Custom File Naming now works properly (this was broken in a previous update)
Insert Part Position now works properly (this was also broken in a previous update)
Optimised some earlier code fixes

I do apologise for these two small but outstanding bugs. It is only that no one reported them until just now and even now only one was reported by one person. The other I found while looking for the first. Smile

I do test MEAP regularly and deeply but in this case, after being away for 3 weeks and then rushing to fix a very rare error I unfortunately created another.

Anyway, all done now.

Updates are free to existing users as usual. I would advise all existing users to update ASAP.

Cheers and thanks once again.

Thanks for the clarification regarding where to ask about export., although it would have been nicer if you had found the time and inclination to respond to me directly instead of the collective one.
Any way, I don`t wish to waste your precious time on trivial issues that must be bothering you every now and then.
Best Regards

Sorry mate but that's not fair.

It would have been nicer if you had simply posted the question at the MEAP forum as I requested. I have requested that many times here. The reason for this is that it is somewhat painful having questions spread about many different forums. It helps users if everything is there in one place. Also I was in the middle of posting up an urgent update, as mentioned.

Anyway to answer your question you would not use bounce. MEAP uses the export audio dialog. You could have answered this yourself by simply looking at one or two of the videos at the MEAP site:

http://www.meap.biz/video

Please direct any further questions to the MEAP forum.

Thanks for your interest. Feel free to let me know if you decide to buy MEAP and have any further thoughts.

Very Happy

No mate, don't be daft. Apology not required at all. It's just that sometimes when typing, things don't come across as they would in a real conversation. One of the negative things about using text instead of real words. Anyway, no worries at all.

Hey Phil,

Purchased MEAP about a month ago and finally had a reason to use it over the past few days:

I got the dreaded calls from a few past clients regarding raw audio files for remix elsewhere. Usually this leads to a groan was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I got going on MEAP. About 15 minutes of reading the manual and I was on my way. Anyway I left the system to do its thing and got the studio cleaned, vacuumed, and organized better than it has been in over a year!

Thanks for a great tool.

That's great TRR and thanks for posting up.

Hope you used the latest version (there are few bug fixes): http://www.meap.biz/download

Also would be super cool if you get 5 minutes to post that up to the MEAP testimonials: http://www.meap.biz/forum/viewforum.php?f=8

Thanks again, it's always great to hear positive news.

Greetings MEAP users

I would just like to point out to you that MEAP version 6.51.388 is available as free download to all existing MEAP customers.

Amongst other things - This version fixed a few bugs that were unfortunately caused by earlier updates.

For more info about the updates see here: http://www.meap.biz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=96

I highly recommend all users - who haven't already done so - get this latest version as soon as possible. There were also many tweaks and enhancements made that were not mentioned in the update post itself.

That's all for now.

Cheers,

Phil.

6.51.395 UPDATE:

Corrected support for Cubase LE 4
There was a issue where in rare cases Cubase LE 4 would not be recognised.
