I use GA3 in Cubase 4.5
I did record in Cubase4 a track with GA3 before.
Tried to understand the manual but didn't succeed.
In the setup mode I tried to record in "Record to file", "Live to host" and "Off" but it didn't record midi info in the track . . .
How do I have to setup ?
Thanks a lot for your suggestions ! _________________ Intel P5P800 - 3,0 Ghz - 2 x 1Gb - Terratec EWX 24/96 - Radeon 9600 pro - WinGo2:Haupauge - Midex8 - Clavinova CVP-105 - Korg Triton Extreme - Tyros3 - Cubase 4.5 - Groove Agent 3. |

If you record to file, the file is dropped onto your desktop. you then have to drag and drop it into cubase, into the GA3 midi track. Otherwise, Live to host, should build that midi file in front of your eyes. Use GA3 as the input and output on the midi track and it should be working.
Good Luck !

Sorry, Idon't understand what you mean by: record to file and drag and drop into cubase.
I hope you want to explain.

Actually, I think you do. You stated that you tried "record to file" in the GA3 setup. The way that works is , say you hit record in cubase and that automatically starts GA3. If you hear a GA3 groove playing, and it looks like there is a track being recorded in cubase, there really isnt. It ends up on your desktop. At this point you either drag it into cubase, or right click it, cut , and then click the GA3 midi track in cubase, and paste it there. Theres your midi file. I must warn you though, this is the harder way to do it.
Live to host is much easier.

This is part of my word document detailing the steps gleaned from the manual and getting GA3 to work with Studio 4. I am constantly referring to it to refresh my memory. Hope you can follow it.
Recording MIDI - This only works for the GA Module. The other two modules are audio.
F11 – VST Instrument Rack and select Groove Agent. Create MIDI track.
Do the setup alterations from the rack not the tracks. Select groove, kit etc.
Tick GM Output, MIDI Output Live to Host, When Host Stops Pause playback
Run Groove Agent, run transport, stop transport and GA should also stop.
To record, arm MIDI track, input GA, output not connected (to stop double triggering). Record track.
To playback, GA edit panel press “stop”, set MIDI track to GA and play from Transport Panel. If you have automated the track, de-activate R button.
Does not record Accents so you need to insert these on the MIDI Editor using Bb3 (A#3) where you want the accent triggered.
I have also set out automating and converting to audio in this word file. Let me know if you need that and I can email my document.
Regards

Hi Litewave
I have used your suggestion although not sure whether by accident or design.
Thanks for your response.

|
|
Hi fellow users,
I have a Vista Ultimate 64 bit system running Cubase 5 64 bit, HALion Symphonic Orchestra 64 bit, and recently added Groove Agent 3 to the mix.
Now GA3 works fine except when I try to write "Live To Host", no data gets written to the track, I can get a midi file to the desktop, just not directly to the track.
Been through all the setting with Yamaha support on the phone, and eventually was told that GA3 was not supported in 64 bit, and I would be advised when an update was available.
But reading your posts here I have noticed that Litewave has a 64 bit system, are you also running 64 bit Cubase?
Has anyone else had this issue with 64 bit or 32 bit? any workarounds?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Groan...
I hate finding this stuff out the hard way.
Just upgraded to Cubase 5 64-bit on Vista 64 Ultimate.
I am using GA 2 and none of the MIDI recording options seem to work for me at all.
Worked fine under Cubase 4 on the same system. |

64 bit to 32 bit.........
The only way around this problem for me was to install the 32 bit version of Cubase 5 on Vista Ultimate 64 bit OS.
Since doing this everything works as it should. Steinberg needs to release a 64 bit version of Groove Agent 3, because at the moment there is no other way that I or Steinberg support know of to fix this problem. There really should be a little more information available in regards to upgrading to 64 bit software, and functionality issues when mixing 64 & 32 bit applications together.
Hope the fix isn't far away as I would love to go back to full 64 bit.
Cheers. |
