Hello,is there any solution for faster loading times?(about 30 to 90 seconds depending on model and ECO or full)
Samples are on external FW Harddrive.
OSX 10.5.7 Intel Core2duo 2,8 GHz,4 GB RAM
Will any Update bring better performance?

Loading times are about 20-30 seconds here from a SATAII drive. This is not really impressive in comparison to other products, but much better then your values.
I also would appreciate faster loading times. |

I Wonder How Long Loading will take On A SSD Drive _________________ PC Related Hardware:

I think it does not mainly depend on the transfer-rate of the HDD. I assume that Steinbergs loading "mechanism" takes time to decompress and decrypt the vstsound monolithic files. In addition they pre-cache for the disc-streaming.
I did the test when I removed the vstsound file from the correct folder. Even then TG3 takes about 4-5 second to only recognize that the soundfiles are not there ...
So there might be a lot of optimization-potential. When I compare to other sampleplayers with except of NI Kontakt, I have much (!!!) better loading times there. other sampleplayers with except of NI Kontakt, I have much (!!!) better loading times there. |

I copied the Content Folder to another FW-HD,files were not fragmented, also long loading, mostly Yamaha C7 and Model D.
I think, we have to wait for an update, because other plugins show us, there is the possibility of much faster loading.

Also Note That TG3 Is just released ...
So there might still be some little bugs in it

I think that is one of those little bugs thats in there
Also note that the lossless compression they used is extremely high
If you set TG3 to use maximum RAM you see it loads up to 700 MB into your memory
I Actually never looked how big each piano content is ... _________________ PC Related Hardware:

Considering the size of the pianos, the 30 seconds I have for loading a full version, I think it's pretty fast. If you need to load something faster, try the eco-versions, or if you need to compare A/B, open two instances of TG3 _________________ Worra

When you think this is fast please take a look at Grabowskis Samplelord, this is really fast. Samplelord gets a 500 MB Grand-Piano play-able in under one second! Or take a look at Yellowtools Independence for example. It is currently top-of-the line concerning loading times. It is real fun to work with it, almost same feeling as if you work with a ROM-Sampleplayer.
Don't get me wrong, TG3 sounds absolutely excellent and it is a really good plug-in, but the loading-times should be faster to show a full professional image. Hopefully Steinberg will improve this in one of the next updates.

Not knowning how Samplelord works, but it seems that it streams from disk without loading anything into RAM. Most streaming samplers load a small portion of each sample into RAM to improve playability. A sampled piano has probably a lot of samples, around 4000 samples are not unusual, sometimes even more. To load say, 0,5 seconds of 4000 samples into RAM in one second are simply not possible. To set up a streaming sampleset without loading anything into RAM in that period of time are probably ok, it's like setting the preload time to zero in HALion.
Glad you like TG3! I've posted some demos in another post here. _________________ Worra

If it's a standard FW400 drive there is not a lot to improve. If you have the option to switch to an eSATA drive with a fast HD, you'll notice a significant improvement.
We have a RAID 0 system here and loading times are 15 seconds or lower depending on the model. _________________ Support Manager
