Hi Everyone,
It's my first post here.
Thanks in advance for any help to get me up and recording.

I'm running a Windows XP system with plenty of RAM and Hard Drive.
I started by installing Native Instruments Komplete and found that I was immediately having sound card issues.
My sound card is an old Sound Blaster Live.

To solve the problem I purchased the CI2.
I installed the drivers and Cubase AI and everything worked wonderfully.
Sweet.

I quickly decided to upgrade to Cubase 5 in order to get all of the extra features.
I uninstalled Cubases AI using the uninstall from the start menu.

I installed Cubase 5 using the wizard.
I registered my version.

Now the problem I'm having is that when I press the buttons on the C12
the window that should pop up in center of screen doesn't appear - the only thing that happens is the Midi fader peaks and then fades.
Essentially the knob and the button on the card aren't working.

Also - the card doesn't seem to be detecting any inputs on the L and R input channels on the back.
All of this worked in AI and now suddenly doesn't work in the full version.

I'm thinking that it's a matter of setting up the card in the "Devices" column -
Perhaps VST Connections or Device Setup?

Rather than me spend 5 hours tweaking these settings and experimenting
I was hoping someone could just tell me how it should be set or point me to a
manual online that says something like - In the Device Setup select VST Inputs - choose Steinberg AI etc.
Something like that?
Please help.
Thanks

Just to add a little more info -

It seems like essentially the AI Knob and the button beside it don't work.

All of the input knobs, the mono button all seems to work.
I managed to get the inputs detected and working - So the good news is I can record.

The bummer of it is that the new feature that I was quite excited about using - doesn't work.

I even downloaded the 5.1.1 patch so now I've got the newest update of cubase installed.
I tried plugging the C12 into a different USB port and reinstalling the drivers......

This isn't looking good -
Can someone please help?

Hi

Have you installed the latest CI2 drivers?
Can you tell me if you have32 or 64 bit
Can you make a print screen of your device manager settings

I've installed the drivers that came with the C12 on the Disc labelled "Tools for C12".
I haven't updated the drivers since then because as I mentioned - everything worked perfectly with Cubase AI (The light version that came with it)
The problems started once I uninstalled that version and installed the full version of Cubase 5.
Also downloading the update for Cubase 5 didn't fix it.

The problem remains that the AI knob is non functional.
Everything else seems to work fine.

I don't know if I have a 32 or 64 bit - where do I look to find that out?

As for a screen shot of my device manager - are you talking about "Device Setup"?
How do I get that to you - I don't think we can add attachments to the messages.
Thanks for helping!

Hi BusyBeavers,

Have you updated to Cubase 5.1.1?

The project assistant as well as the integration support of CI2 was done in this version.
You can download it for free from the Steinberg support site.

Yes!!!
Hahahahaha
It was the Drivers!!
Thanks Rene44 for the link to that.

Also - I didn't know weather my system was a 32 or 64 bit - I took a guess and tried installing the 64, yeah, it just said "Your operating system is not adequate".
No harm no foul.
I downloaded the 32 from the same link and installed it no prob.

So for anyone out there who opened up their Cubase 5 from the box, and installed it like I did and found that the AI knob on the C12 didn't work...
You need this driver update http://www.steinberg.net/index.php?id=2688&L=1

Okay,
Ready to rock now.
Thanks for the help folks.

OK Beavs
Glad to hear that everything is working now

One Advice
Always check the manufacturer site after installing (new) hardware to see if there are new drivers.
