What you should do is convert the PDF of every SB manual ya got into text and paste it into yer Wiki thingee. Then encourage visitors to massage it into a decent index and search.

A lack of searchable help is a real problem for Cubase users, IMHO.

-That- would benefit the <ahem> 'community' more than anything else I can think of.

Cubase VST 5 was released in 2000 and was the first version of Cubase to contain all of the basic elements found in modern Digital Audio Workstations:
    -MIDI recording, replay and editing.
    -Audio recording, replay and editing.
    -VST effects.
    -VST instruments.

That's not true. Cubase VST 3 for Mac, released in 1996, was the first version of Cubase to add VST technology. Windows users had to wait quite a few months later for VST with version 3.5 released in 1997.

Please amend.

But wasn't VST 3.5 just VST effects? My earlier version of Cubasis (VST 3.0r3) didn't have VSTi, but I didn't have anything MAC. The text you quoted was meant to say that VST5 was the first to have VSTi, so the first to have all these functions.

Partly true. VST 3.0 was the first to have effects. VST 3.7 PC and VST 4.1 Mac were the first to include VST 2.0 and therefore VSTi technology.

Steinberg first announced their new VST 2.0 Plugin revision on 28th January 1999 when they released the v2.0 specifications. The technology was showcased in March 1999 at the Frankfurt Musikmesse.

Cubase VST/24 4.1 for the Mac platform was the first Mac version to offer VSTi technology. It was uploaded onto Steinberg's servers in July (30th?) 1999 and was a free upgrade for VST 4.0 owners. The VSTi technology was made possible by the revision of the VST Plug-in standard to version 2.0. Neon was the very first VSTi synth which came bundled free with the sequencer.

VSTi capability arrived for the PC platform around the same time (I cannot find a definitive date - but was probably the same as the Mac) with the release of Cubase VST 3.7 - also a free upgrade for 3.5x or 3.6x owners.

It still needs work, I did a search for Mixermaps, Mixmaps and Device Panels respectively, yet all I got back was "No page title matches". This is a feature in Cubase, right? I would like to read more on it, it's hardly mentioned in the paper manual either. I would love to learn how to get them to save with the template file.

My versions of Cubase came with PDF files on the CD that formed a complete bookshelf of information on all items. Isn't there anything in your C4 CD, or any earlier version you may have? 'Getting into the Details' was the file that covered most of the Cubase functions not covered in the paper guide. If not, it would be well worth investing in a Simon Millward 'Fast Guide'.

Reading the Cubase article on Wikipedia will give you some interesting information about the product's history, e.g. that it was originally intended to be called Cubit but was dropped due to copyright reasons.

This is a wiki, and since Cubase is an evolving product, the wiki will ALWAYS need work.

You, like every other Cubase user are free to go and contribute to the wiki

Refer to earlier posts i made on this page:

There is still a lot of stuff missing there
There is really nothing about the Steinberg hardware and also there is nothing about Cubase / Cubase studio 5

However it is nice to see that something like this exists

Hi,
that's a great idea ... but the ones who contributed to the mac script page did a terrible job!!
it's kind of hard to work in there ...

Can you first check and clean it up?

Hi

Very nice Laughing

But, where are the AI-Versions Question

Even not officially supported, many people have it and use it Exclamation
And there are differences to the LE-Versions.

I should appreciate, if added. Thank You

Cheers

I have (belatedly) just stumbled across this. It does seems like a great idea - hats off to Subvert! Cool

The response from the rest of the community seems a little underwhelming though. There had been no recent additions, so I looked at the stats:

Quote:
Cubase Wiki statistics

There are 1,532 total pages in the database. This includes "talk" pages, pages about Cubase Wiki, minimal "stub" pages, redirects, and others that probably don't qualify as content pages. Excluding those, there are 43 pages that are probably legitimate content pages.

49 files have been uploaded.

There have been a total of 67,130 page views, and 799 page edits since the wiki was setup. That comes to 0.52 average edits per page, and 84.02 views per edit.

As a longish term but irregular user (both of Cubase and the forum) I have seen some of the same questions asked and answered many times. Wouldn't it make more sense to invest the effort in adding it to the wiki and redirecting new posters to the appropriate page. Unfortunately I'm more likely to be a questioner than an answerrer (is that a word?), but may attempt to add something to show willing....[/quote]
