In the German "Keys" magazine special edition - btw contains a full version of Cubase LE 5! - there are several hints that Hypersonic 3 is coming soon/maybe is just around the corner.

I suppose that Franfurt music fair 2010 will have some nice suprises!

Seems as if the upcoming 'Hypersonic successor' will be a HALion 4 based sample player and the library comes from Yamaha - could be that my dream of a virtual MOTIF could really come true. If yes: Congrats Steinberg! Just imagine this one would be as live compatible as Hypersonic already is - buy an avarage notebook, install Hypersonic 2, install Hypersonic successor, connect a master keyboard and have the best live equipment you ever had. Let's wait and see how good it sounds.

I don't need a furkin sample player - I've got Kontakt!

Whatever it is, I'm afraid it will MISS all the features that made HS2 great.

Hoping Steinberg gets this one right...

EDIT - Let me clarify "great"
1. Quick preset load time (instant)
2. Small CPU load, small Hard drive footprint
3. Multitimbral
4. Excellent browser, sound organization
5. Quick adjust knobs
6. Highly editable sounds/fx/mod routings, esp for being sample based
7. Wide pallete of sounds - practically everything you'd need

Absolutely true!
I couldn't agree more.

HS2 is the ultimative all-inclusive-VST-Instrument (especially for laptop).

greetings

http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/vstinstruments/preview_halion_sonic.html

-No mention of upgrade path for H2 owners

-No mention of FM or wavetable synthesis capability.

-1/2 the number of presets with 7 times the GB (bloat).

Need to see the synthesis engine in more detail, but at first glance it looks like we got the overstuffed, proprietary "Sample player" afterall.

Hypersonic 1 /2 is a great workstation and is still standing the test of time in combining it self with the latest music software and OS.

I have just installed the 64bit windows 7, from 32 bit and to my surprize installed hypersonic 1 with all 3 modules and is working rock solid of coures i am using cubase 5 32bit but who cares

I have played hypersonic alongside halion, omnisphere, and it does not get lost through sound quality and warmth hypersonic can hold its own amongst these great synths, and i belive it will not get lost in the up comming halionsonic,

Hypersonic has still got a future thanks to wizoo making a synth that can withstand the future.

Hi hologram

I thought so too, it was also a releaf because I stuck to windows7 32bit in order to garentee hypersonic would work on my system but after reading on this site that hypersonic 2 works with vista 64 bit i thought i would give hypersonic 1 a try on windows 7 64bit and it also works with all 3 modules GP2, NB3, US1, it is nice when you dont need to side line great music software because of newer software .

I want another good alternative to Hypersonic 2.
I need some "workstation" sounds like on Roland Fantom, Korg M3...
Any ideia??

Of course wait on halion sonic to be released of course Wink in the meantime, kontakt , sampletank. If Yamaha puts there heart and soul into Halion Sonic, the need for hardware may finally become redundant, at least I hope they are willing to do this.. Eventually ROM will be ported into softsynth's,it's undeniable that a company will at some point go this route.. The question is which will go first.. Hardware may always have a place for performing, but cpu's are far more intelligent/powerful if the programming/scripting is made available. Will Steinberg/Yamaha now prove this? We shall see.Imagine Motif type synth's on cpu's.. would change the entire production industry..

Steinberg and Yamaha obviously saw the lack of a great ROM option in the softsynth world, and Halion Sonic may prove to be our first real modern option yet. Cool Hopefully.. Cool
