"Cubase Mac OS X 64-bit version which is planned at a later stage and is not part of the Cubase 5 release" Does this mean that the 4GB Ram limit is still present in Cubase 5 for Mac? I hope not....

That really hurts. Cubase is most definitely a MS windows application. But I guess that sucks too, since people prefer XP64 over Vista-anything.
So you have to go vista. Evil that is!

But .. Is there a 64 bit MacOS yet ? If there isn't there is no need for a Cubase 5 64 bit app.

Leopard is 64bit so long as your apps are written in Cocoa.

I really doubt that to be honest - the problem with 64bit apps is Apple literally pulled the rug out from developers when they announced they would fully support 64bit Carbon and Cocoa, then a year later informed developers that actually they were just going to support Cocoa.

This has caused major problems for long standing developers requiring rewrites of Carbon apps, and the reason many of the long time apps are Carbon is because that was the simple update path from OS9.

Adobe have similar problems and for example announced that Photoshop would be 64bit on Vista only until it was re-written in Cocoa for OSX.

The fact that Cubase 5 is a Cocoa app is the huge step - getting it 64bit after that should be relatively simple. I expect a 64bit version as a point release like 5.5 or something.
