Chris: Look at this diagram...

http://theaudiocave.com/Jing/send.png

Cubase and Nuendo both need (imho) a third-state send source option Pre/Post/Input from that point where I've marked it red, the PFL bus.

Please consider it. A simple matter of tapping an already existing bus and making it the third possible send source?

Thanks. Great update. I'm happy with what I see in 5, please at least put this on the devs table for possible consideration. ALT-Click send state button?

Could you give an example of how this would be useful?

Couple of reasons. One would be true raw source multing with sends instead of copies no matter what plugs are on the original track. Another... and the main reason for the request...

Pre-dsp track rendering VSTi to audio stems without going through every single VSTi track or output and turning off effects, zeroing out faders, zeroing out pans? Even with the advanced batch export you'll have to do all of those things for VSTi's if want the raw audio from the VSTi output to audio and you've already started mixing them.

Post-fader stems are mix stems. Pre-everything stems of track edits and such (like audio consolidation / bounce) are a different kind of stem. It should do both for audio and VStI's.

This is what "freeze" does, render the audio at that PFL stage. I'd like batch to allow doing the same thing... and additionally optionally allow the rendered tracks to be placed (where applicable on classes that can contain audio parts) directly on the same track as a new take.

Have a look at Reaper's stem rendering.

1. Render with FX (pre-fader / post-dsp) and make new take or track.
2. Render track input (PFL even VSTi output tracks) to new take or track.
3. Render track output (post-fader) to new track or take.

Very flexible. Not griping at all... I love what Steiny did here. But (I assume) like Phil's tool, these are mix stems not source stems. It would be nice to have both (easier) for VSTI's.

Just asking if this is something not too hard to do, to add the PFL bus as a new send source.

Or a "PFL" checkbox option/choice selection in the batch edit screen that taps into the PFL bus for all of the selected tracks. That would do it.

Hello Audiocave,

regarding our multi export: This is something that will be enhanced in the future for sure. "What and when" things are planned I really do not know at the moment. But I will check this with PM, and then I perhaps can tell a little more.

Gr,

Chris

Since I have no idea who any of those people are... I'll just take the "Yes, I have: " part, ignore the rest, and take your word for it. Very Happy

Fawlty Towers? Must be a German or Euro thing...

If this was the *old* Cubase forum (pre C5) someone would surely make a "Fawlty Daw" joke but we've moved on. I'd still be careful with opening those kinds of doors though... ya never know. Laughing

There are those who would run through it at full speed....

I crack myself up sometimes. I need help.

How do the cod French accents of the British "gendarme" and the airmen against the "real" French accents of Rene etc. in Allo, allo get dealt with in the German translation?
