Is it possible to rename the loaded VST instruments without creating a preset?

I have 7 instances of PLAY running and I'd like to change the name from "play_VST" to something that describes each loaded instance. I loath creating presets for every single possible synth configuration. Just renaming the loaded name would be too simple.
