My CI2 seems like it will be fun but I have some observations and some wishes. There doesn't seem to be a lot of input from Steinberg on this forum. There are quite a few questions that go unanswered for weeks. Keep in mind that many people looking to buy new gear go to websites prior to making their purchase to see if support is a plus or a minus.
Is the CI2 a bust? If you are not going to improve/support it, then maybe take the forum down. Sounds harsh but I don't mean it to be. Those of us that have made the purchase want to know where the product is headed and visit the forum regularly to try and get answers. Are there upcoming software/firmware improvements that will bring latency down? Are there more presets coming out? It would be nice to add some presets for other instruments or multiple instruments being recorded simultaneously (via mixer, for example).
It would be nice to see some answers posted to help us out with our "issues". Anyone else have a wish list?
Thanks for listening!

| I agree. I'm experiencing latency problems which helpdesk is not able to solve it and Steinberg is not reacting on this forum (I reported this on the forum already in december '09). |

Heelllooooo!!!!! Anybody out there?
I thought for sure someone from Steinberg might pipe in. Oh well.....
I ran across this old Musicians Friend catalog with a product spotlight on the CI2, which is why I ended up buying the CI2. It was a nice article that showed the promise of an exciting new product so I placed my order immediately.
Here is a direct quote from the article written by Alan Macpherson, Steinberg North America's Director of Marketing on the features of the CI2:
"Monitor with near-zero latency directly or from Cubase at very low latencies with Core Audio and ASIO/WDM drivers included".
Just thought I would throw that out there for discussion... or not. |

Hello all....
I apologize for not chiming in sooner. Sometimes, other responsibilities get in the way and it becomes difficult to catch every post. I will read through the threads over the next couple of days and offer any info that is appropriate for the topic.
While these forums are community driven, we do our best to offer feedback and input as best can. For direct support on retail and educational products, please contact your local Steinberg Support office. That being said, if there is a 'hot topic' you want us to look into, please drop us a direct IM or email. We will take a look at the thread ASAP.
The CI2 is going strong and is still relatively new in the market. What specific questions do you have about where it is headed? We will continue to offer driver updates as OS changes occur and/or required by our own software updates. In December, we released the 1.0.1 driver update. If you do not have this, please visit www.steinberg.net < Support < Product Downloads. Latency is dependent upon a combination of factors and we are continually looking at improving the latency and stability that the driver offers. When we have more info about a future update, we will let you know.
Currently, I do not know of any updates that will include additional presets. Do you mean Cubase templates? You can create your own templates as well and they will show up in the template list. What we offered was a starting point, but by no means is suggesting to cover every possible project set up. As we all know, this varies from project to project and studio by studio. The CI2 is a 2 in and 2 out USB interface, so one is limited to this physical I/O count.
If I can be of any assistance directly, please feel free to email me at info@steinbergnorthamerica.com.
Thank you for your support! _________________ Brian McGovern
