Interesting development in the Hypersonic story. Still one of my favorite plugs. Hopefully the upgrade will be decently priced Wink

I do wonder, will it possible to use Hypersonic 2 and Hypersonic 3 alongside eachother?

Does Hypersonic 3 have the same samples in it as Hypersonic 2 or is it a completely new sample set because Wizoo owned the rights to the old sample set?

Yes, the upgrade will withdraw your existing Hypersonic 2 license, but the HALion Sonic license allows you to still operate with Hypersonic 2, Hypersonic 1 and HALion Player Retail.

Correct, all the sounds and samples in HALion Sonic are completely different but of much better quality. It could be said that it's possible to get a more powerful, flexible and usable VSTi for only the price of an update on top.

best regards
Gerrit

FYI in Google I found Halion sonic's retail price is estimated around €249/£212 (source: mixingeneer.com)

Yep,thats about it though.I hope to get a chance to hear some audio demo's soon.I mean whats the point in announcing a product,3 months in advance without some sound demo's. Surely by now they could create a small teaser/hype type audio demo.. I just want to see if they are gonna match the workstations quality of conversion ,thats all.. The patches I'd like to see, guitars, brass, solo and ensemble will reveal that quick to me.And I'd be fine Wink

Gerrit from Hamburg, can you say when a small demo of audio will be presented to us? thanks in advance kindly...

Ah okay, sorry I've missed the upgrade point Wink
I did found some info for you though, a Dutch shop (Bax-Shop) offers Halion Sonic update for €99,- already (available 3rd quarter of 2010)
This is a well known shop in the Netherlands, I don't know if the information is correct though. Maybe someone of Steinberg can confirm this!?

I don't think so. Cause Halion Sonic is a new vsti and it's created from the scratch...
Wizoo, the company who created Hypersonic 2, Virtual Guitarrist and others vsti's, now work with Digidesign, or AVID...

So that means that I will not be able to use those H2 sounds any more - if I upgrade to Halion Sonic? But I can still run Halion Sonic and H2 side by side?

Thanks.

Thank you Gerrit for your response.

So I can use my existing Steinberg Key for this upgrade?

Will the program still work on Windows XP 32bit SP3?

Looking forward to hearing some audio demos of this!

I have an edu version of Hypersonic 2, so I guess I have to buy the full Halionsonic.
Will the licenses work side by side at that point or does the Halionsonic (full) license overrule the edu license?

Yes!

Officially, Windows XP is not supported anymore. Nevertheless we made a lot of tests with Windows XP here inhouse and to my knowledge there is nothing that should keep you away from using HALion Sonic with Windows XP.
But as Windows XP is not supported anymore and this information is supplied without liability, I would suggest to wait and see the experiences of users who have/use XP and Vista or Win7 to keep the risk as low as possible.

It's possible to upgrade even the edu license, though I have no idea about the pricing.

I'm a little confused....

I am a long-term owner of Cubase 5, Hypersonic 2 and Halion 3 and I've just been sent an email from Steinberg saying -

Choose the deal that suits you best:

- You get HALion Player for free, if you buy the full product, the latest update, or upgrade now to either Cubase 5, Cubase Studio 5, or Cubase Essential 5.

Or:

- For all other customers, take the opportunity to buy HALion Player now at the special offer price of 49,- Euro* (instead of 129.- Euro)

Why would I want to do any of this this? (I have full Cubase 5 product, and full Halion sampler already)

Should I just wait and see what the deal is for a straightforward Hypersonic2 to HalionSonic upgrade is?

It just seems like they applied no logic to the 'offer' email they sent?

I don't get it either. I own Cubase 5 and with it came the Halion Player-powered Halion Sym orchestra. So, am I eligable to buy at reduced price or do I need to buy Halion Player seperately?

I mailed Steinberg with this question

My Question to them Actually was:
"How do I Get The Free Copy of HALion Player When I already Own Cubase 5"
The answer its for people who buy Cubase 5 Now ...
I also Asked if it will work with the OEM Version of the Player
but I did not get an answer on that one
They actually say that the best way of getting HALion Sonic at a Reduced Price I would be best of buying The HALion Player for the reduced Price

Will this VSTi have a similar arpeggiator as the motif XS workstation - as in - can I make my own arps and assign them to a sound?
