Hey everyone, i just installed Cubase 5 64 bit on windows 7 and I am trying to install the groove agent 3 update from groove agent 1. It cannot find the file path to groove agent 1 and everytime i show it the vst folder it cant find it either. I tried reinstalling the originial version of groove agent one from a copy I had purchased a while ago and it says it needs the original installation disc half way through the install. It is the original installation for the program so I have no idea why it is asking that. I assumed that groove agent one from the install of cubase 5 would be suffucient for the update but apparently not. Any help would be greatly appreciated...I just missed tech support hours and this is driving me nuts!

Danc, when you say Groove Agent 1, are you referring to the original version of the full Groove Agent that came before 2 and 3, or do you mean the Groove Agent One version that's included in Cubase 5? If it's the Groove Agent One that installs with Cubase 5, I don't believe you can upgrade from this one to Groove Agent 3 (update version). The Version 3 update is looking for a previous version of the full Groove Agent. They're different products with a confusingly similar name.

Not sure if this is your situation, though.

Cheers,
Glider

Hey danc,

This may sound like a stupid question, and please accept my appologies. Are you trying to install the most recent GA3 update from the Steinberg site?

Question

hey guys, thanks for responding! yes, purchased GA1 to GA3 upgrade 2 weeks ago as well as SX3 to C-5 from steinberg sales &.......

had all new system installed yesterday, new computer, upgraded sx3 to c-5 & original GA-1 that i've been using for years to GA-3. had a friend do the install, elicencer worked after couple of tries &

C-5 appears to be working!!! hooked up oxygen 49, started new project, pulled up GA-1 that comes with C-5 & had drums wow!!! sounds pretty good actually.

last thing on list is to do is GA-3 upgrade, everytime we put install disc in it said it wanted to see GA-1, witch one??? I have original GA1 install disc, put it in & we are told we need original disc... EGAD!

anyone have any insight on this? guess I should do a signature thing & new dongle #.

thanks danc

Hi danc

I have the exact same problem but under the Mac OS.
I will have to call Steinberg on Monday. Thanks for the tip. I really don't want to go through re installing the old Groove Agent version since I am now using my new Power Mac on Snow leopard.

Cheers Very Happy

a little follow up in case anyone is still looking! in brief a stein tech was going to send me a new ga3 disc, 2day delivery, not sure what content, but another disc. 3days later & no disc I call & get another tech who tells me to do the elicenser code again then he will send new disc...... like dangling a carrot in front of donkey!! after several emails i tell him i have to pay someone twice more to fix this as
it didn't work first time( but c5 upgrade did) & that I need the disc BEFORE install friend comes back! so tech says ok I'll ship disc, then indicates he does't know why my ga1 disc was spat out, my
friend thinks new disc is full version GA3 & so no need for GA1 install first. don't know if this is helpful info or not, either way have a good day.

I have a similar problem.
I upgraded from GA1 to GA 3 last year when I was still running Tiger.
Now I'm running Snow Leopard.
I have got Cubase 4.5 to run and am trying to install GA3. I can get GA1 to install and run but the GA 3 update disc will not install.
I downloaded the GA3updater and also the full installer. I get some very odd messages telling me I have to run 10.3 or greater to install ?????
C'mon Steinberg don't let the side down get your act together. These guys in the above posts are trying to make music and as usual, Steinberg is once again stifling the art !
We need some sort of system whereby as registered users we can download full versions of software.
This whole DVD business doesn't work. I have all my install discs, originals and updates and serial nos. I even took the numbers from the boxes before I dumped them.
So, as Steve Marriott said, "Whatcha Gonna Do Bout It?".
