It didn't say so in the doc but when I tried to use the same instance of Halion Sonic on another midi track and channel after I added it as a vst instrument, it seemed to create another separate instance of HS. This shouldn't be. Did I set it up wrong? In theory I should be able to access 16 instruments from 16 different midi tracks with on instance of HS. Yes?

Hello,

The reason you are not getting the results you want is because you are using Instrument tracks. While fast and convenient, these kinds of tracks don't allow a single VST instrument to be loaded and shared by different midi tracks, set to different MIDI channels. Here's what you need to do:

    1. Load up the VST Instrument panel (F11)
    2. Load HALion Sonic into any slot
    3. Create a MIDI track and assign the output MIDI port to "Halion Sonic"
    4. Set the same MIDI track to channel #1
    5. In HALion Sonic, load a sound into the first slot

Repeat steps 3 - 5 for each additional midi track you'd like to use, using successive midi channels and Halion Sonic slots (Midi Ch.2 = Halion Sonic Slot #2, etc)

Have fun!
