I have Wavelab Studio 6 and Cubase 5.5.1
I purchased Wavelab 2 1/2 years ago because I wanted to master my own mixes.
I dived into it, reading a lot of articles, bought the Tischmeyer mastering DVD's.
And now?
I use Wavelab only to create CD markers and as a burning tool.
All the processing is done in Cubase including mastering.
I can use the scrollwheel to operate plugins in Cubase in Wavelab I cannot.
Lining up different tracks is more intuitive
I find the offline processing in Wavelab with all the maps and settings very difficult to manage (I am used to mediabay)
I can reorder VST effects per channe in Cubase.
I have a dedicated channelstrip per song in Cubase.
Workspaces are far more advanced in Cubase
I don't need PQ editing.
I don't need IIRC or what is it called.
The workflow is so far apart between both applications that I have a hardtime switching.
My point is now that if they would implement a redbook wizzard in Cubase and some good metering I can't see a reason to use Wavelab as
a home producer so to speak.
I also believe there are a lot of homeproducing people that have wavelab but only use a small portion of it.
But that is what I think so that is why I want to question that here on the forum
In wavelab my hands automatically do things 'Cubasestyle' _________________ greetz Dylan,

There are many things (concerning audio editing) I can do in Cubase that I prefer to do in Wavelab. That's my feeling, obviously not yours.
If Wavelab does'nt fit your needs and you feel Cubase is your thing, stop using Wavelab.
Use Cubase for audio editing and some sort of Nero to burn CD.
The result is more important than the tool. _________________ Laurent. |

I also own both, but can't ever imagine not having or using Wavelab.
Maybe you can downgrade to WL Essential when WL7 comes out - or do as Laurent says. _________________ Luck, Arjan

I am not going to change anyhing, I don't have a problem with it.
I was curious if there were others doing the same thing Meaning:
Do the actual mastering in Cubase instead of wavelab. And with that I mean things like the last brickwall limiter, Mid Sid process, EQ, dithering and lining up of tracks.
In wavelab I import the whole wave, then edit CD markers and burn it.
Reason behind it is not that I think any package is better or worse, it is Cubase workflow that I am so accustomed to that wants me to stay in that application. _________________ greetz Dylan,

I use Cubase only as a recording and mixing device, meaning that's the environment where I work on basically one song at a time. When recording and mixing per song is finished, I take the songs to Wavelab and do (pre)mastering there, burn CDs, create MP3s, etc, etc. Also I use WL on individual tracks - either finished mixes or individual recorded tracks from Cubase - to edit those for sound (not so much after Cubase 5 came out) or noise reduction / spectral editing. _________________ Luck, Arjan
