I have discovered to my dismay that VG 2 does not work with 5.5.1 and snow leopard (10.6.4). The product launches as a vst instrument but no midi is received and no sound comes out. When you try to quit you get the everlasting spinning beach ball. It does still work as a standalone though.
I therefore tried to use it as a rewire instrument. I activate rewire mode in the standalone, quit it, then launched cubase and found vg2s rewire channel in cubase and activated that. When I launched VG2 it came up as an instrument track and when I pressed the keys of my external midi keyboard, sound came through the channels. All well and good, but how do I record midi in cubase, so that it will play back and trigger VG2? I set up a midi track with the rewire channel as the output and recorded some midi , but it did not activate vg2 when I played it back. Am I doing something wrong. How do I set up cubase to trigger notes in vg2?
Also, how do i record the audio in VG2 via rewire. The instrument track shows that audio is coming through but how do I capture it? The only way I have figured out so far is sending the audio out the instrument track through my 828 mark 2 and then sending it back in on another stereo channel, which is not exactly the most efficient way of doing things am I missing something. The manual as usual is worse than useless. Go to the rewire chapter. It just says launch rewire and it works!
any help appreciated
