Hi all!

I try to configure a MIDI controller (Korg nanoKONTROL) to work with Cubase VST 5.2.

Configuration 1: Control arbitrary CC data
A provided software (Korg Kontrol Editor) allows to program the faders/knobs/buttons of the nanoKONTROL (MIDI channels, CCs, etc). After selecting in Cubase a MIDI track set to the required channel, I succeeded in recording some knob twiddling as CC data (e.g. filter sweeps with CC21 and CC22 for my E-mu).

Configuration 2: Control Cubase transport/MMC
Next, I set up the nanoKONTROL as Generic Remote device in order to operate Cubase's transport. In the Generic Remote Setup window, I got the following values/actions up and running simultaneously:
- [device: Transport] MMC: play, stop, FFW, REW, ...
- [device: VST Mixer] audio channels: volume, pan, mute, solo, ...
- [device: CTM Mixer] MIDI tracks : volume, pan, mute, solo.
In this window however, I was unable to route data transmitted from my nanoKONTROL to an arbitrary CC of a MIDI track (e.g. to CC21 instead of the only available menu items volume, pan, mute, and solo). Is this possible?
--> Click here to see screenshot of "Generic Remote Setup" window! <---
And what are the menu items generic 1/.../generic 12 for? I haven't found any explanation/reference to these values/actions so far.

Summary of my problem:
Under configuration 1, I can control any arbitrary CC, but not Cubase's transport. Under configuration 2, I can control Cubase's transport, but not any arbitrary CC. Is it possible to do both within one setting?

Maybe I'm trying to do something stupid here... (I'm quite new to Cubase and MIDI). And presumably it's possible to solve this problem by rerouting the MIDI data with MIDI-OX --- something I try to avoid... (since I'm quite new to Cubase and MIDI)! So, is there a simple solution?

Thanks for any commments and help!

Felix

P.S: Yes, I have carefully studied all the manuals. And yes, I already searched several forums.
P.P.S: Sorry for the huge post! Embarassed

Simply put: I have a MIDI controller with transport buttons and faders.

Is it possible to configure Cubase VST 5.2 in a way that allows me to:
- use the transport buttons of my controller to make Cubase play, stop, rec, ...
- assign the faders to an arbitrary CC of a particular MIDI channel
at the same time? It seems like such a natural thing that I must be doing something wrong here.

The Generic Remote setup appears to be intended for controlling Cubase's audio mixer, MIDI mixer, and transport only (as well as some commands).

ANY help on this issue is greatly appreciated! Crying or Very sad
