Hey guys,

I have been mastering on an XP machine with WL6 for years. Daily full time sessions pushing it to the max. I know this set up inside out. So like a lot of people I was somewhat disappointed to see that WL7 was only being supported in Win7. As old as XP is I was hoping to get some more use out of it for sometime. I dont need the bells and whistles. Just something that runs the software I use quickly and reliably. Obviously I kept WL6 for work but I was keen to try out WL7. I installed it on my main studio machine and attempted a session. Apart from the learning curve I encountered a few issues. Settings not being remembered, very regular crashes, industry standard burner not being recognised etc. These issues aside I liked what I saw and was keen to integrate WL7 into my main working day. Above anything it rendered files a lot quicker so on top of the new features I would be saving a lot of time which is a very important asset. So I took the plunge and brought Win7. I had no experience of the operating system as I had no intention of upgrading to it anytime soon. I also use Mac on my other machine. The installation to 64bit was painless and I was running in about an hour. Installed my usual software plus of course WL7. I have been running it for two days solidly and I have to say that I am very pleased. No crashes, my burner is recognised and everything just works. There are a couple of bugs that have been reported else where but no show stoppers. Win7 seems very stable and capable of running a successful DAW. I had no issues with obtaining drivers or running the software I regularly use including Plextools. Another welcome addition is that like Cubase I can now work on either my main PC studio machine or my Macbook Pro.

Cheers
