At the risk of sounding snippy, I want to offer some constructive feedback. I hope it's not taken the wrong way.

You guys alienated -so- many faithful users (like me) who LOVED Halion 3. Delays. No response. Even your -blog- has had the fits and starts that damage credibility.

While I think the blog is a GREAT first step towards rebuilding trust and building buzz about Hal4, I think you guys would do well to acknowledge IN PUBLIC and PROMINENTLY that there -has- been a breakdown in trust. If you do that -now- before you start touting all the wonders of Hal4, you stand a MUCH better chance of regaining market share.

PR 101: Acknowledging past mistakes is good business.

As it stands now, the blog makes me think you guys are just starting a new release as if it's been a short while since the last one. That's not good from my POV.

The pain that I (and many of my friends) endured in switching over to Kontakt is not easily forgotten. To get us to switch -back- will require some fence mending. Serious users have a TON of time invested in their sampler of choice and switching back -would- require much effort.

I have not found this to be 'the steinberg way' to acknowledge -any- past mistakes, but it's still a good idea if you want to sell this thing in large numbers.

Hi Suntower,

I read your posting and it doesn`t sound "snippy" to me in any way. You exactly meet what I`m feeling. Although I`m not a power poster I`m steinberg user for more than 20 years now and what I feel is exactly a lack in trust. This is not addressed to the forum admins (!) you do the best to keep this forum living but to the politics of steinberg. I could imagine that it is not pure fun for an admin to start a blog after all these delays and misinformation of the last years and afterwards having nearly no response - so: respect for this activity.

To be serious: I also was Halion user from the first time Halion was released and was waiting for H4 for years now. As there is not even a release period in sight I now made the step to Kontakt 4. I really would have liked to upgrade to H4 and stick to steinberg due to the workflow I`m familiar with, but: Kontakt raised to a quasi standard during the passive phase of Halion meanwhile (many manufactuerers of sample libraries have these available for Kontakt - I don`t know many who have for H3).
So sorry to say: H4 is not of interest for me at the moment and I cannot imagine how it should make up the distance to Kontakt in the near future. @steinberg: maybe it could be worth of taking a minute and think about trust.

regards, humphrey Sad

Suntower: wise words!

I've used Halion a lot initially, until it got stuck in v.3.
After that, made the move to Kontakt. Involved a lot of editing of various sample libs, but well worth the effort.

Steinberg effectively killed Halion years ago, never understood why.
Still sitting here with a Midex-8 that also got abandoned by Steinberg.

Kontakt does pretty much everything I need and is seen as the current standard.
No way going back to Halion!
