My flashdrive size is fine thank you, and as for 50mb, try 250mb if you were to add up the file sizes of the updates released thus far. When it comes to dealing with flash memory, especially my SSD, I like to minimize the amount of data and writes to it as much as possible, as flash technology does wear out and certainly isn't a 'forever' thing, then again, what storage really is? The fact that I was just able to dump 150mb, plus have a quicker install the next time around, made all my questioning worth while. _________________ Q9650 @ 3.62ghz

That is odd - so Nuendo 5 got the update earlier! my Nuendo 5 version has been built on Sept 17 as well and I got the update like three weeks ago. _________________ Windows 7 x64, Dual Xeon 8-Core, Intel Server Motherboard, 16 GIG RAM, RME FF800 |

this kind of praise for Steinberg "giving back" a basic function to us that was working fine previously, is astounding.
what they should do is break the ">Play" button. and then fix it in an update. Then everyone will be happy on this forum and singing praises for the almighty genius that is Steinberg! and their share price will go up because of the happy userbase. And they can say that "the Play feature has been restored due to user feedback".
TwinOak your post should have been more along the lines of "Steinberg I see you fixed your screwup...about time".

Though I do entirely see your point, I believe the thanks is due to the fact that Steinberg actually put this feature back in, as they didn't have to. They could have left it out for whatever reason and rhymed off to us any excuse on they are no longer including it, like perhaps it will be seen in Cubase 6 like the Reverence mix knob issue. That was a problem that was created with the 5.5 update and they refuse to fix that until the next major payed version of Cubase is out. I guess be grateful of anything that is given to us as the coding is completely out of our hands and we are unable to fix these issues ourselves so we rely on Steinberg to do these things for us. _________________ Q9650 @ 3.62ghz

Hi all,
I reinstalled windows yesterday. Installed Cubase 5 from disk, updated straight to 5.5.2. Everything seems ok but my Roomworks and Roomworks SE Presets are missing.
Any ideas?

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Steinberg, they confirmed that missing Roomworks Presets are a bug in the 5.5.2 update and I can either wait for Cubase 6 or revert back to 5.5.1 _________________ Intel i7 X980 @ 3.33GHz

fesboy did they say on the phone how long you would have to wait for Cubase 6.. (timeframe)? it sounds like 5.5.2 is the end of the Cubase 5 product (regardless of future problems found)... _________________ Win 7x64 bit (Cubase 5.5.2 32 bit) - UAD2 Solo & Quad - Intel Quad Core Asus PC |

The GUI for Imageline's Sytrus is still not showing from me in this update. I had stopped using it for this reason and re-installed it only because Imageline's plug-ins in were specifically mentioned in the update notes as being fixed.
I get sound and I can flip through presets but the GUI is just grey. _________________ Cubase 5.5.2 64bit, Intel i5 650, 8GB Ram, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard. Windows 7 64bit. |

Hey blackout,
No they didn't, and I didn't think to ask. I think I'll stick with 5.5.2 regardless of the missing presets, it might force me to get a bit more creative with Roomworks. _________________ Intel i7 X980 @ 3.33GHz

I found the presets Ok by simply selecting 'filters' and 'location tree' in the preset browser and then selecting the 'Roomworks' folder. Seems like a reasonable workaround? _________________ Black Sands Music

So what is it with that Roomworks issue (missing Presets)?
Is it a showstopper for the 5.5.2 update to anyone who uses the factory presets in projects?
Couldn't I just export them and reload after the (broken) update? Backup & copy the config file?
Hope you'll get this fixed very soon

Hey guys,
I've still problems with using any of my free 32 bits synthedit built plug-ins. Last attempt was to load novakills' nitrousPD synth (http://www.novakill.com/killerz.htm). I ended up in a synthedit message like "can't find this and that module" and a froozen cubase. When closing the message window I've got a followup message like "VSTBridge crashed..."
I've reported that problem allready for the 5.5.1 fix which actually adressed that issue (at least it was state so in the release notes) but brought no resolution. Is it only me that has that sort of problems? Is steinberg working on a fix?

It looks like a solution has been found for the Roomworks / RoomworksSE presets issues.
Located on thread:
http://www.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=142720
| nori wrote: | The issue is due to wrong spelling!
Roomworks and Roomworks SE refer to their presets in the folder (on my system) “C:\Programs\Steinberg\Cubase Studio 5\VST3 Presets”
Since the last update the plug-ins are named “RoomWorks” and “RoomworksSE”, but the corresponding folders in “C:\Programs\Steinberg\Cubase Studio 5\VST3 Presets” are labeled “Roomworks” and “RoomWorksSE”. Pay attention to upper case and lower case!
I simply renamed these preset-folders in accordance with the “new” names of the plug-ins (upper case “W” instead of lower case “w” and vice versa) and all the presets are back! |
This solution hasn't been confirmed beyond all doubt, but it seems to work for everyone who's tried it so far.

have they fixed the "part to groove" bug which was present in Cubase 5.5.1?
as I described here:
http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=1020070#1020070
It's a real issue for me as I always use custome grooves, and tend to draw in MIDI information a lot.
thanks |

Hi,
I've noticed the following happens in projects I've created in 5.5.2:
Every time I reload a project all instances of Reverance default back to 100% wet mix, even though the mix is displaying the setting I saved e.g. Reverence mix displays 35 dry/wet (as I saved it) but audio is sounding 100% wet until I reset the mix.
Guitar Rig 4 is randomly forgetting which presets to load and is occasionally loading blank GUI's.

Dear Steinberg Support Team,
while I appreciate your efforts to improve Cubase with update 5.5.2, for me basically
nothing has changed since the 5.5.1 update (which brought at least one improvement for me
regarding the Korg Wavestation plugin):
- BFD2 still crashes Cubase when used with VST-Bridge and trying to unload BFD2 or close a project that makes use of BFD2.
- BFD2 still produces crackles when used with JBridge (on a dual XEON machine with 24 GByte of RAM, Windows 7, Cubase 64 Bit)
- Except Sonic Synth none of the IK Multimedia Synths/Sampler products show up when
trying to be used with VST-Bridge (IK Multimedia Sample Moog, Sample Tank, Sample Tron and Miroslav).
- All above mentioned IK Multimedia Synth/Sampler products crash Cubase when used
with JBridge (after loading some sounds and making adjustments to the user interface)
Will these issues ever be resolved? Maybe with the next paid Cubase 6 update?
If not, I currently see little reason to buy the next update...
Nevertheless, thanks a lot for version 5.5.1 which at least lets me make use
of the Korg Wavestation plugin.
Best regards,
GS |

I found out that there is a known problem with the Roomworks presets being lost in the move to 5.5.2. Evidently, there was some kind of problem with the spelling or the capitalization of the directory and that caused the presets to disappear. I am supposed to get information about the fix and I will post it here when I do. _________________ 64 bit Cubase 5.5.2, Windows 7 running on i7 chip, 6GB RAM, 3.5 TB on 4 disks.
