Samson C01U and cubase a WORKING SOLUTION

I have finally finally finally found the SOLUTION!!! I want to share this because BELIEVE ME I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING to get this crapola Mic working. I trawled the internet for months looking for an answer.

I found it and wish I could credit the guy who originally wrote it but I have forgotten the website….

Okay, here it goes!!

Step 1. Go to Application -> Utilities, Audio/Midi Setup application and open it.

Step 2. In Audio Midi application Go to Audio -> Open Aggregate Device Editor.

Step 3. In the dialogue, click the + (this will create a new Aggregate Device)

Step 3A. Click the Aggregate Device just so it is highlighted.

Step 4. In the USE column check mark Samson COIU and Built-In Output.

Step 5. In the Clock column check mark the Built-in Output option.

Step 6. Click Done.

Step 7. For your Default Input and your Default Output, CHOOSE AGGREGATE DEVICE.

Step 8. In properties for choose SAMSON COIU.
step
9. Format = 44.100.
Step 10. Value = 0.86 This alters the pick up sensitivity of the mic (I have mine around 0.60 ish)
Step 11. Open Cubase (In my case I have Cubase AI 4.5.2 - Build 274)
Step 12. Go to top of the menu and select Devices.
Step 13. Choose Device Setup... in the menu.
Step 14. Click on VST Audio System
Step 15. On the right of the window you'll see ASIO Driver.
Step 16. Click on the little arrow next to it and choose Aggregate Device.

YOU ARE DONE….

Macmini Intel Core 2 Duo 1.83Ghz
OSX 10.5.4
Cubase AI 4.5.2 - Build 274
