my virtual instruments still don't work. i have tried everything that was suggested. i have my motif es6 hooked up to the midiman 4 x 4 and the triton rack hooked up to the thru port of the MO. No matter what settings i put, when i swith the output to a vsti, the red light is going off which means it is getting the sound internally, but i hear nothing externally.
also how could i hook up the triton rack to where i could use it with the mo. the way it is hooked up now, i have to turn the mo down to hear the triton rack however when i turn the sound on the mo back up i get two different sounds on one channel. wait if i turn the sound on the particular channel down on the mo maybe i won't hear it in cubase. i'll try that, but still any help would be appreciated.

The previous reply to your problems had sound advice. It seems as though you are getting MIDI into the VSTi. However you need to make sure that your AUDIO is routed correctly to hear what is going on. What audio channels are your VSTi's routed to? Are those same audio channels routed through the main mixer? Are your overall inputs and outputs to your soundcard configured correctly? Do you have a soundcard? Are speakers attached to your soundcard? Is the power turned on on your speakers? There are many steps to make sure the audio from your VSTi's are heard. Your MIDI from your Triton or Motif has nothing to do with the sound of your VSTi. You are just using your Motif as a MIDI controller for your VSTi. Now take a look at all your routing and post back here with DETAILS. When you say I have tried everything, that gives noone any bit of information to work with. Part of asking for help is knowing what to ask for.
As for the audio for your hardware synths, how is all of your audio hooked up? Two different sounds on one channel from where? Cubase? Your external Mixer? Again, More information please.
And if you are a DIY'er look here for some great tutorials: http://www.tweakheadz.com/
