Hiya Jet. Really nice geetaring Cool
Yeah, I reckon you've got most of the levels sorted on this one. Did you A/B with anything for this song? Just wondered.
I found the leccy bass to be a tad too loud albeit it only appears briefly. Might wanna check that in a day or so............
Otherwise, poifect. A great end to the album Cool

Cheers
Sir Phil Laughing

Hi ya Master Phil,

as to A/B, yeah I did. I also A/B'd with my own (mastered by Steve Smart) material. So bit of a basket of references.
I also A/B'd within the whole album project (of course).

This version is actually up in the bass (substantially) compared to my first go at he mix some weeks ago. I have tried several
versions, and this one does it for me. No HP on the mix, either.

Thanks for listening. I'm hoping that as folk put the disc back into the jewel case,
with the artwork I have done, they'll see the bigger picture. Or not. Laughing

Thanks, and thanks for help kicking my "stubborn b@stard" (©2010 Ian Rushton) butt on the strings, too.

Hi Jet,

Another great song! I look forward to listening (soon I hope Very Happy ) to the whole album, chilled out in my room, volume up, as I did with you're previous work (which is also pretty damn cool by the way! Very Happy )

I think blueonblue hit the nail on the head when he said "excellent lyrics and vocal as usual, you have such a great feel for a song.
btw, beautiful acoustic guitar"

Spot on!

All the best
Sav.

Not sure if you'll see this: I'm hearing this about a week late it seems. Guitar sounds nice -- I owned a dark brown Yairi once, too. Strings sound quite good -- realistic (which is both a matter of using quality samples AND knowing how to orchestrate them). What samples are those? I like how the strings FILL up the mix -- it's a Pearldivers signature. Also, again, another set of fine lyrics with a couple lines that blow me away (you can't cram all your BEST lines into one song -- you need to "sprinkle" them throughout your tunes judiciously, which you do. In all honesty, I actually recall a great many of your lines -- hell, I barely recall many of my OWN lines -- but this says something about your gifts as a lyricist. Me, lyrics are ab afterthought -- which is funny since I have a degree in Comparative Literature -- but with you they are obviously well thought out.

If I had one minor criticism about the song, it's they way the drums come in late in teh tune. That is fine in and of itself but it seems, fairly or unfairly, that you've used this strategy in several songs in the last couple years (please, if I'm wrong, simply ignore this crit). It's a fine technique but I'd be careful not to overuse it. Then again, I MAY be full of sh1t!

Hello Doug,

long time no see you around. Nice to hear from you.

Thanks for your comments. I try my best with lyrics, but, in all honesty, I never know where they
come from, or, indeed, whether they will come at all. My own degree in Literature has no
doubt helped, especially the poetry.

The strings are Roland (SRX-04 Symphonique Strings) and Korg (M3) played in real time.
I'm happy you think they sound OK.

What became of your Yairi?

As to the drums/bass appearing at the end, I take your point, although such arrangements
are almost never planned, but, rather, suggest themselves. I guess one acid test is whether
it works or not? Anyway, this is the sole track on this album where I've employed this technique.

Cheers and thanks.

P.S. did my postcard arrive?

Jet
