Apparently there's another competitor to this year's X-Factor for the end-of-year number one spot, this time an "all-star" performance of 4' 33"...

Personally, I like this because the stated intent is a protest about the way all the contestants but one end up being humiliated for the amusement of the general public (rather than about the manipulation of the charts). Issues of musicality, musicianship etc aside, this is an element of the show that has always really bothered me. Sure, no one is forced to enter for the show, but nor does anyone enter because they want to have their emotions, hopes and dreams messed with on stage in front of millions, all for the purpose of lining someone's pocket. There's commercial genius in the idea for the show, but not a great deal of morality IMHO.

The other thing is that I'd dearly love to see the TOTP performance if they actually make it to number 1 Mr. Green

I think it's very cool that they did this, but this is also blowing my mind, because just a few minutes ago I responded
to a guy who can't get sound from the midi tracks of an old project, and I suggested he forget the sound and call it his version
of Cage's 4'33".
