Hello,

that must then be on your system only. We had no other reports. Perhaps a faulty dongle ? Perhaps you can give more details regarding your problem.

gr,

Chris

I will say that I think the dongle is called upon FAR too often - every time you add a track (among other things), it checks if the dongle is there.

Once at the start of every project? All it needs to do is be checked on launch and when opening a project to make sure that people aren't excessively "sharing software between friends" or something like that. My biggest issue is that sometimes I need to run a reamping session on my MBP while editing on my desktop (And yes, I know it's against the user agreement, but I really don't care - as a paying customer, I should be able to run two instances of a program on different machines simultaneously), but I have to run the dongle back and forth between locations (where I edit/mix isn't where I track, for the most part) every time I want to do certain actions.

I'd rather get rid of the dongle entirely, but ways that would make it easier to circumvent for legitimate users trying to do legitimate things like I just illustrated would be awesome, too.

I don´t know what there is to tell. It´s just my personal experience. Most of the time it of course works, but every second crash I get is caused by the dongle. Like I said, doesn´t happen often, but it´s still very annoying when it does. Especially when the dongle is not needed and the crashing caused by it could be avoided totally. I feel like the dongle is just there to punish us legit users.

It´s very annoying and also scary to use Cubase live as well with a laptop, because of the dongle. Just one more unnecessary thing to worry about.

Because I get a notification before the crash, that Cubase can´t find the dongle or something like that.

next time it happens take a screenshot of the dialog box.

how is the key connected? if you're getting elicenser connection issues i think you should try connecting the key directly to the front (or back) of your mac pro, or via a powered hub.

Even with a powered hub, I was getting elicenser errors, so have had to use one of the USB ports on the iMac. Since then I've had no problems.

I had the same problem on the MacBook. Direct in, no problem, any sort of hub, didn't work.

Hmm. No problems here with dongle attached to external keyboard attached to MacBook Pro.

i get occasional crashes from dongle issues either in a hub or direct to imac ... dongles are such a *klonk* invention... it's such a random occourance aswell mostly at start up checking elicencer .... crash!!! change usb port works a few times then crash change again luckily it's not too often ... and i agree dongle calls so regularly are not really necessary are they?

My wife once asked me, 'how come 'electronic musicians' look so serious on stage? They rarely smile etc.
I told her I believe that unlike players of more conventional instruments, computer players know that at any time and for no reason their ax may just blow-up.
Occupational hazard.

I have been using Cubase on a laptop live every weekend since SX3 with no dongle probs.

That being said I have noticed that since C5, Cubase will sometimes crash when closing one song and then opening another.

My live work-a-round is to not close any songs. When I load the next song C5 will ask if I want to 'activate' the new song.
I say yes and the song loads with no probs.

This could be a dongle prob but it 'feels' more like the previous song is 'holding on' to something the next song needs and so POW! Crash! Batman!.
