OK, I'm confused. It's Dec 15, I log into MySteinberg and find...
nothing.
Well, nothing new anyway. Same old same old. And frankly I'm a little alarmed. When a company as big as Steinberg makes a major announcement, stating they're closing the only functional support portal on such and such a date, one would expect the new venue to be easily found and inviting. We have a thread noting all kinds of features, and maybe it's so. But where is it? How do we get there? A link from here might help... or some instructions.
I'm not alarmed by the fact that it's hard to find on it's first day (though opening a bit earlier to ease transition might have been wise). I'm alarmed because Wavelab has no manual, and so far this forum has been the only way I've found many features and tools. What's more, Steinberg's silence and Philippes defense of the help system as an adequate replacement (sorry, not even close) for new users suggest no change on the horizon - we're stuck with a very poor help system (found this link from its authors who suggested noting objections with Steinberg for revisions http://baldscone.com/?p=193). By design the new forums will be smaller and less active. Currently the only forum links lead back here (maybe a good thing?).
In short I fear that a bad situation is about to get worse, as far as support goes. Currently this place fills a major void for WL7, so it's replacement must be managed with great care. If a decent manual (with illustrations, cross-references to conventional terminology, and tutorials) were available this would be less concerning. |
