Opinions please. A comment on 'why' would help a lot.

I'd like some UAD, but not yet. I'm looking for good natural stereo reverb for female vocals and guitar work.

Three come immediately to mind. SIR (good, but heavy CPU load when used for tracking), Pristine Space (I don't have it , but it has it's fans) and the Wizoo jobbie whos name escapes me at the moment (again, I don't have it, but it's well liked by those who do).

Cheers,

Pete

"Sonic Flavour's R66" comes to mind as a very good algorhythmic Reverb unit with very good/smooth sound and low CPU overhead.
"Princeton Digital - Stereo Room 2016" is another one.

The Wizoo is called "Wizooverb W2" IIRC and there's also a Surround version called....W5 (who would have guessed it?)

Cheers

Nothing much to add to the above except another vote for R66. Its one of the best algo reverbs available imo, and can produce some quite amazing reverb 'effects' such as infinate tails, as well as the usual Hall, Room suspects. you may still be in time for the Group buy going on at sonic flavours.

Why is everyone ignoring Roomworks? It's free! You've already got it. It sounds pretty good to me. No one mentions it for some reason.

OK, only two reasons I can think of:

1. It is included by Steinberg and word on the street says, "stock plugins are no good". Well that certainly is not true.

2. It can be heavy on CPU. Yes, this is true but so can long impulse convo reverbs.

So why not Roomworks folks?

Mark

The free 'classic' reverb is nice on vocals - really nice infact!

http://www.kvraudio.com/get/717.html

They also makeone of the best delay plugins around (and its free).

Because I've never gotten anything but naff results from Roomworks... I tried to make it my goto for background verbs.. but to be honest I still prefer ReverbA for that (less parameters).

SIR and Pristine Space by Voxengo are very clean convolution reverbs. SIR has a greater latency issue, but very good sound output, and you cannot beat the price (still free). Pristine Space will cost you a little, but worth every penny!

Would you say Pristing Space is better sounding than SIR, or just easier to work with due to the latency issue with SIR?

I haven't tried the full prestine space but i do own prestine space light and SIR (and convoboy). I don't think there is an awful lot of difference in the sounds with the same impulse, but being able to track with prestine space is a definite advantage: especially if its used for eg speaker modelling. Convoy boy is good and very cheap.

Best to try SIR with some impulses from www.noisevault.com and then buy a better plugin if you like the sound of the impulses!

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Artsacoustic ( http://www.artsacoustic.com/Content/products-details1.htm ) reverb yet.
I don't actually own a payware verb, but this is one of the ones i'd definately consider.
Not only a nice sound (which the R66 also has) but a very intuituve interface.

What about Waves IR1?

I actually demo'd all of the above mentioned reverbs. And the one that stands out (without much tweaking) is the Arts Acoustic. It seems like Arts Acoustic reverb presets are ready-to-mix right out of the box, plus it has the BEST gui of any reverb vst I've seen.
