Changing Tempo with Imported Drum Tracks

Hi everyone, I'm a newby and need help with tempo changes. I am importing drum tracks that are too slow but can't seem to change the tempo at all. I've tried importing the drums as the first track and then changing tempo through "Project" and Tempo Track but no luck. I've alos tried adding them after i record and initial track with metronome setting tempo faster than imported drum track but during playback the tracks are still different tempos. Can anyone help?
