Release Sample Level Issue

I have an issue with the release sample level when using HSE2. It appears that the player is reacting to velocity off notes but even when I filter those out I still end up with the same problem. The release samples play way too loud compared to the level of the sustained sample. If I turn down the Amb. level the tail of the sound disappears and sounds very unnatural. Because of this problem I would like to just turn off the ambiance (mute) and set the sustained sample to release a little slower but that part (release setting) of Halion Player has been hidden/disabled for most programs.

Can someone help as this issue renders HSE unusable as such. I am using OS X 10.3.9, 1.8GHz G5 with 1.5Gb
