| Quote: | Dear HALion Player Users,
due to technical limitations with the license scheme it won´t be possible to support HALion 3.0 generated HSB files in HALionPlayer. This means HALion Player can´t load HSB files generated with HALion 3.0x, while HALion 3.1 generated HSB files loads just fine.
Update: you can load HALion 3.0 created HSBs in HALion Player if your Steinberg Key contains a HALion 3.x or a HALion 3.x Demo license.
best regards

Until your demo licence runs out and then your stuffed, and nobody at Steinberg seems to know anything, and cannot do anything to remedy it!
It's a pretty fundamental flaw in the program, so just issue an update that fixes it.
It's 2006, I refuse to believe it's not possible! _________________ Mac G4 - OSX 10.4.10, (at last!!!) 1.25Dual (1.5g ram), Cubase SE, Halion Player, 8 guitars, 1 bass, 1 wife, an attitude, twins and a hangover. |

| I quite agree with you, but if you check out the other threads on this forum you will see that Steinberg are not really acknowledging it as a problem for them to sort out. Even their solution makes no sense, they seem to be burying their heads in the sand on this one, probably hoping we will all upgrade to Halion 3. |

I think that's why I'm so p***d off.
It seems like they just can't be bothered or are deliberately evasive because they really f***ed up and can't fix it....
.....maybe it's one for the BBC's "Watchdog" programme....
I'm sort of new to this forum lark...is there any way us halion player users can gang up on them!?........ _________________ Mac G4 - OSX 10.4.10, (at last!!!) 1.25Dual (1.5g ram), Cubase SE, Halion Player, 8 guitars, 1 bass, 1 wife, an attitude, twins and a hangover. |

Not really sure what we can do. Here is a quote from another thread I started on this subject
Isn't this statement in breach of the Trade Descriptions Act of 1968. I have just purchased Halion Player and it quite clearly states
"Loads and plays back ANY Halion HSB, FXP + FXB content."
http://www.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=34145
I still stand by this, and to be honest was expecting a little bit more support from other Hal Player users to get an understanding of the scope of this problem. But it's either apathy or most people use Halion3 and don't care about the problem, or maybe most people use the warez version of Halion 3, I don't know.
I never got an official comment from Steinberg on that thread.
I must admit to suffering from a certain amount of apathy myself, I am the sort of person that goes to a restaurant, gets a cold meal, crap service and then does nothing about it. I then walk away, never go back and tell all my friends what a bad place it is. In contrast my partner is the opposite. We went for a meal last night and got cold chips. After we finished the meal she told the waiter the chips were horrible, he in turn told the owner who gave us a free round of drinks and a free desert, and a verbal apology. So sometimes it's worth voicing your opinion, and if it's a decent place they will do something about it.
The problem with something like Watchdog is they will only take note if they get a lot of complaints, and judging by this forum they might be lucky to get half a dozen.
I was kinda hoping Steinberg would just cave in to pressure and sort it out, but they are hardly under a lot of pressure with just a few posts. |

I think then what you are saying is....we're not in a decent place?............
......I think you may be right!
I feel really frustrated about this but maybe I'll just continue the hunt for a dodgy version of Hal 3.1 to convert the files (for mac if anyone has got one).... I can't see there's anything more I can do.
If i post the same question every 2 days for a couple of weeks maybe the 'moderators" or whatever they're called may just get as arsed off as me and get us an answer...........yeah that sounds good.........
btw.....I won't stand for cold chips anymore.....did when I was 20........I think your partner is right....but it's taken me 'till I'm 45 to get wise....
