Sorry to be dense, but do you run this update with the dongle in the USB port or removed?
Many thanks! _________________ AMD Athlon XP2200+, 1 GB DDR SDRAM, Windows XP Home SP-1, Matrox G450 Dual Head LX, RME Digiface/Hammerfal DSP sound card, UAD-1 Powered Plug Ins cards, RME ADI-8 DS A/D D/A Converter, MidiSport 8x8 USB MIDI port (USB), Cubase VST/SX 1,2,3 |

Thanks a lot for this one! Now my DP 5.12 loads GA3 without complaining.
BTW, I just installed it (Mac OS 10.4.10) without bothering about the dongle. No problems at all, clean as a whistle.

what a mess, with this update still not solving the cpu waste.
also heavy redraw problems in dual mode hitting the buttons.
hitting run for both modules and the stop for both modules does not grey the button and leaves it half green.
have to hide and bring ga in front to get the button into complete grey.
reloading anothe percussion set to pa sets all outputs to ONE.
WHY ???
theat means after loading another perc set have always to setup the output config.
BTW
HOW IS TESTING THIS DEVICE ??
I wonder if this thing ever gets working well.
Very disappointing. |

forgot to report, that the tool tips have also redraw problems hanging around in cubase with no chance to get them away after displaid.
also the standalone keeps active in background when already terminated, has to be closed with task manager. what a mess ...
they should have a look on BFD, which we also use for our yamaha drumset.
what a difference in quality.
ga is not worth to be a steinberg product.
just compare it with halion concerning the cpu use.
halion with a lot of instruments in the slots has less cpu than this only drum machine.

Hi there, thanks for the update, but when trying to install, it's looking for the file on C:/ drive and tells me to re-install GA3, with no way to re-direct the search. Since some of us have installed to diferent drives and directories, how do we direct it to these locations. In the past, this was possible. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. _________________ pc#1= Core I7 unlocked 875K cpu (liquid cooled)- 4 gig ram, XP home (32bit) linked (byFX Teleport) to pc#2=2.3 gig P4 cpu, 2 gig ram XP & pc#3= (also Teleported)Laptop=2 gig cpu, 2gig ram using Vista. The redraw issue is known. If you want to "clear" the "U+L" button you can also switch to another module and back again.
I cannot reproduce the rest of outputs on loading a new preset. Here, GA 3 keeps the outputs. _________________ Support Manager

I cannot reproduce the tool tip redraw issue here as well - on Windows Vista.

I'm also having problems with PA...same as mididoc in this thread..."also heavy redraw problems in dual mode hitting the buttons.
hitting run for both modules and the stop for both modules does not grey the button and leaves it half green"
Just like what's happening to hb3 ..."I notice that the dual module "run" buttons are sometimes getting stuck on green as well, and I have to press various stop and run buttons to get them to clear up." _________________ Windows 7 64bit / Cubase 5.5.2 / Intel I7 950 / GB-X58A-UD3R / 3X2 gig Corsair XMS3 DDR3 ram / Radeon HD 4350 PCIe / 3 X SATA HDD / MR816 CSX / Novation Nocturn / Focusrite Liquid Mix 32 / Liquid Mix dedicated pci firewire card / Seasonic S12 650W |

For the PA issue "outputs get reset to out 1 when loading a preset": can you please confirm the version you are using by clicking on the GA 3 Logo and looking it up in the upper irght corner? I can´t reproduce it.

hi helge,
the version number is 3.0.2.14
system is windows xp 32bit
concerning the output issue.
we have tried this again.
we had tested the new update and started with the standalone.
then we got to cubase and tested the plugin.
i think that the problem comes from the standalone which kept active in background even when we tested the plugin in cubase.
we have repeated these tests again and the output issue seems to be alright.
the most important problems are for us:
1) cpu waste compared with halion, ga2 and bfd
2) redraw problems concerning tips and buttons
3) unbelievable long loading time
4) problem with standalone which keeps active in background after termination
we propose a beta testing group like for ga2 which is working much better and reliable.
so long.

concerning the other thread:
http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=91972
it seems, that standalone freezes while closing the audio interface
and writes corrupt logfile. _________________ ASUS P5E3 Deluxe / Intel Core2 Quad 4 X 2.66 GHz / 8 GB DDR3 Ram / NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT / 2 HD WD3000HLFS VelociRaptor 300 GB / 1 HD WD1002FBYS 1000 GB / RME Fireface 800 / Oxygen 8v2 / ESI M8UXL / DTXpressIV / Windows 7 Pro 64 bit / Cubase 5.5.2 64 bit / Halion 3.5.0 64 bit / GrooveAgent 2.0.0 / Wavelab 7.01 / BFD 2 |

Hi,
Steinberg/Arbiter tech support were as surprised as me to find that 'Special Agent' still cannot record, even in Cubase 4.
having read various frustrating 'work arounds' my question is;
If this module cannot be recorded and used what is it's function?
I've been a loyal Cubase registered user for 10 years training teachers and lecturers. My confidence has gone.
Any suggestions?

Hi Joe, you can do the following with SA:
- record MIDI notes which trigger SA fills or change patterns (complexity level). You do so by sending notes on Ch 3 or 4 depending on if SA is the upper or lower module.
- then export that as audio if you want to
What you can´t do with SA is exporting MIDI data like you can with classic Agent. That´s because Special Agent has no Drumkit like GA classic, instead it uses a whole lot of live played loops.

Hi Helge
thanks for your reply. To claryify; can you point me to the parts of the GA maunual that explain this so I can point other users to it.
Which MIDI commands control the pattern changes and fills and is this clearly stated?
thanks, joe |

Hmmm... I found a logfile by that name too, but with a size of 2.5 GIGABYTES! Wondered why my C-drive had lost so much of its free space...
Wonder what is going on. When I simply jam with GA3, changing styles and everything in random, eventually there comes a point where most of the drums stop playing and only hi-hat (for example) plays... After that, it's re-starting GA3. Perhaps the huge log file has something to do with that?
That's quite a huge bug, but I still love the program. The idea is simply marvellous. I just hope that the bugfixes will continue to really unleash the full potential of Groove Agent for music production. _________________ AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @4 GHz, 8GB Kingston DDR3-1333 RAM, Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P, 1x Samsung F3, 1x Samsung F1, 1xWD, M-Audio AP192 + Musical Fidelity X-DAC v3, Musical Fidelity X-Can v3 + Grado SR325, AMD Radeon HD5770, Windows 7-64, Cubase 4.52 |

Hi Joe
It's all in the update release notes PDF, but to quote for speed:
Controlling Groove Agent 3 from a MIDI Keyboard
You can control the most important aspects of Groove Agent 3 from your MIDI keyboard. The information found in the
printed Manual is outdated. With Groove agent 3.0.1 an updated pdf manual will be installed, which contain the
folllowing complete and updated info:
Ch 1 = GA in classic mode/upper module
Ch 2 = GA in lower module
Ch 3 = SA in upper module
Ch 4 = SA in lower module
Ch 5 = PA in upper module
Ch 6 = PA in lower module
Ch 10 = GA in classic mode/upper module in GM mode
Ch 15 = GA in classic mode/upper module as
described on page 114 (odd channel), same as ch 1
Ch 16 = GA in classic mode/upper module as described on page 114 (even channel)
MIDI remote keys for Groove Agent module(s)
B0-A3 (35-69) Trigger drum sounds (as displayed on the Import & FX page)
E2(52) Half Tempo Feel (off = 0-63 / on= 64-127 vel.)
A#3 (70) Accent
B3 (71) Stop
C4-C6 (72-96) Complexity levels A-20
Mod wheel up Fill
MIDI remote keys for Special Agent module(s)
E2 (52) Half Tempo Feel (doubled for easy SA/GA compatibility)
A3 (69) Half Tempo Feel (off = 0-63 / on= 64-127 vel.)
A#3 (70) Accent
B3 (71) Stop
C4-C6 (72-96) Complexity levels A-20
Mod wheel up Fill
MIDI remote keys for Percussion Agent module(s)
Every octave on a MIDI keyboard controls one Percussion Agent groove (group). Here are the keys and their destinations (per octave, ranging from C0 [24] to C8 [108] - with groove 1 starting at C0, groove 2 starting at C1 etc):
C Level Off button
D-E-F-G-A Levels 1-2-3-4-5
C# Mute PA groove (group)
D# Solo PA groove (group)
F# Random
B Stop/Run PA module (Stop = 0-63 / Run=64-127 vel.)
Hope this helps.

Hi Bob,
I had the same problem, caused by my having two installs of Cubase on my PC (Cubase 3 and Cubase 4). The installer was finding the wrong VST plugins directory. I solved this as follows:
Run regedit
navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Steinberg\Groove Agent 3
Find the string value called vstdir (on mine this pointed to the old Cubase install directory)
double click on it and edit it to point at your Cubase VSTPlugins directory (not the actual GA plugin folder), on mine this was E:\Apps\Cubase 4\VSTPlugins
Run the updater again. This sorted out the problem for me, YMMV - and as usual, editing the registry is at your own risk etc.
Hope this helps you.

we installed ga3 on windows 7 64bit now.
is there any chance to get a working update?
does not remember midi out state.
always switches back to "no midi to host".
also does not remember gm midi out. (may be reason above)
displays always tooltips, which don't go away, even when tooltips is disabled
(this is in vst plugin with cibase)
terrible broken start button.
we really nead an update.
i'm not talking about the missing grooves for percussion module.
these are really just a view ...
